Briana Curto | Is it a pain in the ass too have to drive atleast 20 minutes to get to somewhere to buy things? Yes. But is it worth it to be able to grow up in a small town? Deffinately. To bring these things to NP would be a huge disservice, and it would take away NP's character.
Kate Lawrence | I moved to New Paltz three years ago. One of the things that made me fall in love with New Paltz is how many local businesses there are and how easy it is to WALK around New Paltz. There are things here that you cannot find in so many other places. And the things that are missing (chain restaurants, large shopping malls, Walmart, etc.) are the things that SHOULD be missing. Please don't give up on New Paltz's unique character by giving in to big development.
Anonymous | As far as I understand above all the other destructive problems CrossRoads will cause, they are not subsidizing the New Paltz Volunteer Fire Department for the increased need of their services. That is a huge problem, they are already working with minimal volunteers and many calls for the college and of course local business and private homes. If Crossroads gets built the volunteer fire department will be overloaded with out equiptment creating the possibility of our all ready in existence establishments to burn down and people getting injured or worse, fatalities.

Christopher White | This proposed development is completely inconsistent with the 4-5 year Land-Use/Transportation Study that New Paltz conducted (and which I served on). That effort concluded that New Paltz should encourage walkable neighborhoods and denser development in the Village. This development is completely car dependent and not in the areas targetted for denser growth. While I do prefer development that is mixed-use, the scale and impact of this proposal would undermine any possible benefits. The proposal, as currently configured, is really nothing more than the misguided type of suburban sprawl that has marred the Hudson Valley since the 1950's and left us increasingly dependent on automobiles.

Ethan Sisser | I STRONGLY oppose "Crossroads" . What New Paltz needs is MORE of a community-centered lifestyle, not less of one.
