Bruce Justusson | I don't want this to happen to New Paltz.
Bill Mulcahy | Everybody on this petition who is against this project should write a letter-to-the-editor in the New Paltz Times. We CAN still stop this outrage, but it will take a constant barrage of opposition to make our deaf politicians listen. We should make it clear that if they continue to support this project they will be voted out of office. I think they should be voted out for letting it get this far. They have betrayed us!!!
Winter Eyres | keep New Paltz beautiful!
Kathleen Silverii |
Jamie Levato | We need to support our local businesses.
Vasily Shatalov |
Dakotah | fuck that.

James Leo | This development has not been fully studied/. There is an unresolved wet lands issue and the traffic problem on 299 is already horrific. These retail stores will add to the economy or create new intra structure needs resulting in new taxes. What about the impact on the schools and roads. Just go to Rockland County if you want to see the impact of this kind of development.

Anthony Bax | My wife and I moved out of Manhattan and settled in new Paltz 2.5 years ago. We choose New Paltz over other communities (i.e. Westchester) because we wanted to live in a quiet, historically relevant, "organic" town with natural surroundings as opposed to the type of development that "Crossroads" represents. We live approximately 1 mile from this proposed project and feel that it would be a terrible blow to the way of life that we enjoy here and we would most likely relocate further outside of New Platz should this project move forward.

| 316 | Bill Mulcahy | See the video of the 6/23/08 public hearing on the Crossroad's atrocity here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7375282348839883812
The first hour was filled with people who want to "modify" this monster instead of killing it. Even these political appointees had major reservations about it. |
Eric Gidseg, PhD | This project will prove to be environmentally and culturally devastating if built as proposed. I will vigorously oppose this development in any way that I can.

Cordell Stahl |
Matthew Elkin | Please do not allow such drastic change to take place in our great town. This project will completely alter the way New Paltz feels and looks for an end result that residents do not need or want.
Gayle |
Jasmine Redfern | We don't want a development like this in our town!
Ilka & Kevin Casey |
Todd Quinlan | This development will harm the economic base of the village and threaten many small businesses by directing traffic away from Main St.
Marina Kokkinias | DO NOT BRING THIS TO NEW PALTZ!!
Jesse | The proposal sounds horrible. We need to build our local community with locals. Stop importing and start building a sustainable New Paltz that can help everyone live in the post peak oil world.
Charlotte Carr | I think the Town Board needs to focus on reducing costs to the Townspeople since that is a reasonable approach to reducing taxes. Why do we need a "Villiage" with all the duplication of services (Village Police, Campus Police, Town Police, State Police, Sheriff's office, 2 building departments, 2 Town Boards, and 2 TAXES!??
Edward Cramer |
Duane McDonald | All that this project has to offer the community is the destruction of the Ohioville hamlet and greater New Paltz through imposssible traffic snarls,an ugly viewshed, overcrowded schools, air, water, light, and noise pollution. If the Town of New Paltz couldn't afford to maintain our infrastructure before, how does it propose to sustain another 1000 plus temporary dwellers that will require more services than currently exist? The only one who benefits from this mega-project is the developer. He will walk away with millions of dollars and the rest of us will pay millions more in taxes to suppport this future nightmare! Stop this ridiculous, over-sized,unattractive,intrusive project now ! If this project is allowed to be built, we might as well roll out the red carpet for Wal-Mart and say goodbye forever to the New Paltz we once endeared.
Adrienne Davis |
Lin Le Lardiere | This developement has nothing to do with New Paltz and its character. It has only to do with building an atrocious mostrocity that will deface the uniqueness of New Paltz. This must not be allowed to happen.
Jessica Francese | Keep New Paltz local; keep out the chains. They are not needed or wanted.

Anonymous | A project of this size is rediculous for New Paltz. we are not Albany, Syracuse or Paramus. There is no reason to have it in New Paltz. Traffic is already out of control, even on non-event/non-holiday weekends; that's why there is already a traffic study in progress.
Jeff Lambert | No!
| 350 | Joyce Scheffey | I have been a resident of New Paltz for 6 months and find the town unique in managing to keep it's small town atmosphere.
Crossroads will destroy that. In my salad days I was active in Town Gov't and can tell you that this kind of development promises everything, takes more than it gives and all the profits flow out of the local community to corporate headquarters elsewhere. |
