The number of surfers in the New England area has increased drastically in the last decade, and this trend looks to continue in the near-future. However, due to cold-water conditions, limited surf breaks, and distance problems, many people in New England who are interested in learning to surf choose not to. Also, there are many New England surfers who will never get to experience the breaks of tropical locations such as Pipeline, etc. Therefore, this petition has been created in hopes of building a surf park at a centralized location in New England (in the case, 6 Flags New England). The goal is not only to introduce our amazing sport to everyone who is interested, but also to allow experienced NE surfers the opportunity to experience different breaks from around the world, without having to actually travel around the world to do so. |

My name is Craig Kelly, and I was born and raised in New England. I have surfed here for several years, and may never get the chance to experience many of the worlds most beautiful surf breaks. Additionally, many of my friends would love to start surfing, however due to the above-mentioned reasons, they have not yet chosen to do so. Also, although I have yet to contact them, I do believe this petition will be supported by major New England Surf Shops, and New England Surf websites. |
