I mean people who are under 21 already travel to other countries JUST so they can legally drink! I upset everyone in my life and everyone around me. I damaged property, I was violent, I caused so much hurt to those who cared for me and to myself. My own choices, but I don't think I was aware of the full extent consequences around drinking alcohol. Who is when they're 13, 14? Most adults don't even realize it. As a grown woman I suffer from depression, anxiety, paranoia, emotional instability and dependency. I believe this is all completely and directly related to the consumption of alcohol in my youth. I wish this substance had been illegal and that I had never touched it in my life, because it has almost destroyed me. Also, my father is an alcoholic but fortunately is in recovery, however he is in a place rehabilitation and doesn't get to see his family regularly. I have lost several relatives due to alcoholism on both sides of my family. This is the most horrible of all drugs purely because it is legal which gives people a false sense of safety when they are consuming it! People think they are doing something completely normal when they go out on a Friday/Saturday night and drink 20+ units of alcohol but they are causing massive damage to themselves and often others! There needs to be more awareness about the dangers of this drug and the only way we can do this is by making it illegal because this is the only way people are ever going to get the message. It hurts me to know that there are going to be millions of other youngsters doing what I did and regretting it as much as I do later on in life.. it's just not right. How can our governments allow this to happen? Something needs to be done. |
