Rajesh Alagh | I commuted for 15 years in London and had no accidents. In 2 years in Wellington I have been hit and run twice. I have cycled large distances in Thailand, Portugal, India, Vietman, England and Australia and can honestly say that NZ drivers are the worst!

Ella Lawton | Please put more cycling lanes in! We need to start putting in the infrastructure to ensure that everyone can continue to have the freedom ot move around. As the cost of transport goes up we need alternatives.

Dave Forgie | Cycling is a natural fit with the growing "green" awareness in NZ - great for the environment and great for personal health (traffic hazards aside!). With this in mind (and NZ's green image) - the lack of decent urban cycleways/infrastructure is simply mind boggling, I am originally from Canada (NZ for 18 years) which I believe to be a much "greener" country in reality (Vancouver has had cycleways when I was a child - more than 35 years ago!). I strongly support this petition.

Marc Slade | Making cycling safer and more enjoyable is a crucial way to address sustainable transport and address climate change and the effects of peak oil.

Philip Strang | A 'C' change in thinking is required in city /suburban trasport plannning. Rather than cars prevailing and 'accomodating' buses, cycles and motorcycles the reverse is needed.

Anonymous | NZ motorists need to learn to share the road with others. Auckland city officials need to address the issues around safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

Karen | It would be great if cyclists were treated with the respect they receive in Denmark & the Netherlands. They have right of way over the motorist!

| 3369 | Dean Whitaker | The cycle way alongside of the North Western Motorway stops at Te Atatu, this is so frustrating and dangerous for the large number of cyclists who would ride into town if it was extended and completed to the end of the motorway. We have to ride through residential streets at peak hour which is very frustrating and dangerous before we can get back onto the cycleway.
Is there a cylce way planned for the ring route? The Greenhithe bridge cycle pedestrian access is fantastic and we use it a lot and it would be an asset to the community if it was included in this development. |

Keren Rego | In light of daily media coverage around Climate Change issues, cycling is one of the key areas we shoudl be totally supporting in every way possible as it will ineviatably become one of the most sustainable means of trasnport in this country.

jerry schave | Between trying to reduce our carbon footprint and need to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels especially oil we need to promote cycling as an attractive alternative to the use of the motor car. The added bonus of the extra exercise to make us more fit will help save more money in our health expenses.
