3301 DougalI live in central Auckland and won't let my children cycle to school, because it's not safe. I have been hit twice while cycling to work and now no longer do it. We need commuter & student cycle tracks.

3305 Astrid GluthIf it is the intention getting people saving petrol there need to be cyclelanes provided for commuters rather that for recreational cycling!

3308 Barbara BlanchardTotally support this. Much needed. Suburban areas need consistent treatment of road alterations to include cycle-friendly features e.g. storm water grills whose grid goes across the direction of cycle travel, bypasses along gutter at roundabouts and pedestrian crossings, and shoulder width wide enough on corners to accommodate cyclists instead of narrowing as they do now.

3321 Jenny TannerAlso like to congratulate the Labour-led Government on current policy initiatives that are being implemented at various levels to encourage greater use of sustainable transport modes.
3322 Warren FitzgeraldWe should be promoting cycling as the most efficient method of transport, especially given the current situation, and cycle safety is a big deterrent at the moment. I have been hit by a car before while riding and I know many others that have too; its a big problem! Also, anything to encourage activity can help solve health issues as well as transportation issues so must be a good thing. Cheers.

3330 John BlakePeople who have spent many years, travelling the world by bike, realise after half an hour on the road in NZ that it is the most dangerous country in the world for cyclists, because of driver attitudes and actions. Its time this was addressed. Matters are compounded in recent years, since cars became more numerous and more powerful, drivers become increasingly rude and aggressive with low skills levels, country roads are turned into race tracks in the name of road safety. The actions of drivers of heavy trucks and buses lead to the conclusion that they consider that cyclists are not really human beings .

3332 Margaret StentEverything possible needs to be done to make cycling safer and promoting it as a very important option for transport.

3335 Fernando BeltranPLEASE PLEASE Run a national Share the Road promotional campaign telling motorists and cyclists how to co-exist safely on the roads.
3336 Hayley DoddThis NEEDS to happen. I cycle a lot on the roads at the moment and rarely feel safe doing so. Thanks.
3337 Chrys Hornmaking cycling and walking safer is good both for sustainability AND health outcomes as well as road safety. if we want people to get out of their cars an onto their bikes or feet or public transport then we have to privilege those transport types - make them more attractive and make cars less attractive!
