| 3257 | Sheryl Tapp | Bicycles used to be the normal means of transport for NZ school students. Returning to roads where motorists expect to see cycles & know how to behave around them benefits all users: parents no longer need to play taxi to competent cyclists with comparatively safe roads to travel on, reducing stress & congestion. Cyclists are fitter, healthier & less obese than car passengers, particularly with emissions decreasing as they must. Cycle routes throughout cities are progressively more necessary as petrol prices & greenhouse gases impact. This is so obviously where NZ has to go. |

| 3266 | Paul Bacon | Cycling should be encouraged as an alternative to motor vehicle transport in Auckland. The biggest single reason I don't cycle more is safety and the lack of care shown by drivers. |

| 3273 | anne Nicolson | Today on national radio I heard an expert say that we need to reduce carbon emissions by 80% within 10 years.
surely its obvious that carbon producing cars are not part of a sustainable future. |

| 3285 | ADrienne | I cycle as my means of transport daily towing my two children in a buggy. The suburban roads are too narrow and therefore dangerous for us, but the footpaths are full of pedestrians. The arterials in Pt Chev (Meola, Pt CHev Rd) need cycle lanes. Please get with the 21st century and sort it out for bikes! |

| 3288 | Zanahe Galloway | cycles should have the same rights as cars within the city limits with reduced speed limit to 30k. for all. |

| 3292 | daphne gilbert | i`m back in the u.k. for a few months. the reason helmets have not been made mandatory is that: studies on driver behaviour show less care and closer proximity is shown towards cyclists wearing helmets. one for the discussion box. |
| 3293 | Lesley Bailey | I visit New Zealand every year and enjoy cycling whilst there as I do not have the opportunity to cycle at home.
New Zealand needs lower traffic speed in built up areas. The age at which youngsters can learn to drive needs to be raised! |

| 3298 | Philip Osborne | I agree with points as they are outlied above. I also see the need for cycleways away from roads where the speed limits are 100km or more. |
