PeasantWith PitchforkPeople go through terrible circumstances in their life .I personally went through a life threatening illness and only by the grace of God am I still here.During my time of rehabilatation there was no way to work. It was all I could do to pay for my medication. These bankers and credit reporting executives, sit in their wall street offices with their $3000 Armani suits on,smoking their $100 cigars, wile people suffer, thinking of how they can exploit these poeple who have suffered horribly through death in their familys, divorce, horrible illness. These companies are bottom feeders and vampires. They should not be able to collect any money until they have suffered like the people they victimized.

MicheleCeramiNYUSI also believe any delinquent acct. paid up should be promptly removed entirely from the report instead of this 7 year death sentence.
ThomasBowmanPAUSI want to be a serious voice for you In PA,DE,and NJ. I live close to all three and agree with what you are saying. What they are doing is making millions off hard working americans, due to a loop hole. Credit reporting was meant to be a guide and the person had a say in the outcome. So many people are being discriminated against and this is not the American way.

RichieHillTXUS7 to 10 years is like a prison sentence. It's ridiculous people cannot start their life over for that long of a period.

GlendaNewmanFLUSAmen! Let me know how else I can help. This has been a long time coming! I would also like to see reform in credit scoring: Currently the scoring is as listed below: Excellent 750-850 - difference 100 Good 660 -749 - difference 89 Fair 620-659 difference 39 Poor 350-619 difference 269 The bulk of people are going to fall in the fair or poor range. I think the rates should be evenly distributed. Also, I have had a terrible time finding employment and I think it is because of my credit. Also, we have had Bellsouth and DirecTV bill us fraudulently - I bet it is on our credit report, too. They billed us for services we did not receive and they won't credit us back. We have changed our services to other companies, but the errors are still there. It is not fair to the consumer to be treated this way. The consumer only has 60 days to dispute a bill. There should be no time limit on disputing a bill. If you were billed for services you did not receive, then that is like theft. There should not be a time limit for this. We disputed ours over the phone, so the law says you have to put it in writing. I think this should be changed. Because the consumer is waiting to see the correction on the next bill (hence 30 days) and there is no correction - so the 60 days goes by - and no correction has been made. Then it is too late to follow up with a letter of dispute. Thank You. Good luck. Glenda Newman

JillHalapchukNJUSI want the credit comapanies and bureaus to have accountibility for the actions that they take-- they do not have to think twice about ruining peoples' lives and often what they report is inaccurate.
AnonymousAnonymousUSI am a mortgage mtg that recently lost job due to Countrywide layoffs...I was never late with anything on my credit for 5 yrs now I am a bad credit risk tried to get homeowners could not afford the new inflated cost due to my "bad credit" I am livid Criedt reporting does not show a true valid picture of a persons situation and aids companies in milking innocent people with bogus fee and inflated costs even befor becoming a credit risk I fought for months to help borrowers clean up I propose Creditors can not post collection under 500.00 there needs to be a limit I see things for 50.00 bringing a persons score down why should they not be able to post items under 500.00 identity theft is easy for item below 500.00 that is the prosecutable amount 500.00 and above which is why most ot the fraud happens in smaller denominations and reuins a person credit Also 30 day reporting should be eliminated 60 day reporting should be the standard I ahve seen many times where a person is sick or in between jobs and miss one payment and the score drops 50pts Swedish banks use 60 day reporting and it is much more effective (heck things happen...life???) lastly if we increase the min on a report to 500.00 people will not be able to post... i have an 80.oo collection I refuse to pay ,i refused the vendor an he flat out said he would ruin my credit by posting the 80.00 and he did credit posting is abused because the consumer has no recourse 500.00 even 250.00 makes more sense than allowing every tom dick and harry to try to abuse power against the consumer 60 day reporting allows the consumer to have more of a window to correct error if you are 31 days behind you score will drop 40-50 points and historical reporting shouls outweight month over month which is why 60 days brings fairness above 30 day reporting. perhpas you are disputing a credit card...30 days will hurt you and then another 30 days to remove...

MichaelShevenellMDUSThe credit reporting system in the US is one of the most unfair system ever placed on this country. To think we have to pay a fee to see a report is a joke. It is nothing but a profit system for the Banking Industry.
LauraO'NealGAUS
DonaldChickORUSI agree with the above proposed changes to credit reporting. I would also add that: credit reporting agencies may not change an indiviuals score by more than X number of points during X amount of time.
JOSEPHKIUMUALUSI am currently trying to get an incorrect figure of 1286 removed by experian and others. Hunter Warfield reported the figure despite us protesting that the figure was wrong and that we needed time to talk to the appartment complex. The figure has been adjusted to 100 dollars which we promptly paid but both the Hunter and experian say they can not remove the 1286 item.

JudsonWilsonHIUSthe current system of credit reporting is very unfair to the consumer.

DarylKnowlesTXUSI would like to add that Medical Collections should NOT be on a credit report at all. Failing that, Medical Collections should NOT be included in any scoring system.
LisaBurtonNCUSIt is time to make creditors more accountable!!! Also eliminate medical collections from being reported and collections shouldn't be allowed to be sold and resold
AnonymousAnonymousTXUS
AnonymousAnonymousThe law, as it stands, disproportionately and adversely impacts the average American consumer, who is at an immediate disadvantage as a result of not having a signficant lobbying capability, much as a credit reporting agency, employer, or financial institution. Fair credit reporting should be just that -- fair. This is not currently the case. Full disclosure should be made ANY time a credit report is requested in a hard inquiry. Mechanisms should be in place for consumers to correct customer service errors that result in bills not being sent, for example, and monies owed. These mistakes, it could be argued, are not a reflection of a consumer's credit worthiness, but in fact of an individual company's worthiness and capabilities. Yet, no impact occurs to said company as a result of a mistake.

ColetteFalconerUSI completely agree. I have several items on my report that are over 7 years old and that I have reported as innacurate. I was never told of any decision and finally ordered my report again and found that the credit bureaus said that they had "verified" the debt. I called the collection agencies and all of them told me that the date the credit bureau had was the date that they bought the debt and were able to tell me the actual date of the "original" debt. Ive been working on fixing this for over a year with no end in sight.
