The guided bus stops are planned for swavesey and st ives which both entail a drive to get to them . If the congestion charge is enforced as published, I will be looking for another job (and probably a longer commute), as the extra £3.50 a day to get to work will not make my currrent employment worthwhile. |
| 322 | paul zbihlyj | No current public transport or park and ride scheme in the Cambridge area is anywhere near appropriate for the daily commute to my Cambridge based employer.In terms of timing ,a proposed congestion charge is about 10 years too early in terms of the infrastructure that would need to be in place to provide a workable alternative for commuters. Government financial incentives are a distraction in this sense and the city council should not be seduced by this. Please ensure you listen to the people-Stockport have just resoundingly rejected a similar proposed congestion charge. |

| 332 | Rebecca Badcock | Can't afford to live close to work, salary would be greatly reduced if I worked closer to home, have children in childcare so public transport not suitable for timings, house prices have rocketed in my area AGAIN so have to work in Cambridge to get the money to pay mortgage, chose to work on the outskirts of Cambridge for ease and now find I am having to pay AGAIN! It's a VICIOUS cycle. But of course, if I stayed at home and had more kids and lived of benefits then someone would pay all of this for me!!!! |

Do they not realise that everyone who can find a reliable and affordable alternative way in to Cambridge has already done so? The proposed congestion charge is really just another tax on motorists. |

It is already extremely expensive to park in Cambridge and any congestion charge would increase cost to £10 to merely visit Cambridge. Also what about the staff and visitors of Addenbrookes? Many people work shifts and the Park and Ride is not available after early evening, what provision is to be made for these groups? |
| 348 | Roz Jarvis | I run a small business and will use Cambridge's roads whether there is a congestion charge or not. I will inevitably pass the charge on to my customers. The charge will not deter me from using my car because I have to use it to run my business. It is outrageous to suggest that Cambridge has a congestion charge in the future as it has an overpriced and completely inadequate public transport system so even the people who might consider using it are largely deterred. London is an exception because the public transport system is reasonably efficient and the centre of London is not the only part where people work. Cambridge city centre serves a wide area and people come in to it from all parts of the county. School bus services should operate to ease the congestion during term time as this is the main reason for congestion during the week. I have been opertaing my business for 13 years in and around the city centre and am in no doubt as to this being the main problem. My journey time is always less during the school holidays, mostly it is at least halved. Making it difficult financially for people to visit the centre of Cambridge by car on top of the already hugely overpriced and inadequate car parking facilities can only be detrimental for central businesses. I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments expressed by many that this is only a new way of raising yet more money from the already 'overcharged for everything' Cambridge residents and business owners. A referendum locally is essential at the very least. |

It is obvious to most ,and, has previously been mentioned, that the school traffic is a problem. The holidays are a relief! So I agree that improvements in the bussing in of students would help. |

School and businesses are bound to suffer, many will probably move outside the city and who can blame them. Public transport MUST improve considerably: the cost of taking my children on the bus will be no less then the congestion charge and with a bus journey of over an hour and a half there (and then back) why bother? |
