Will LearyThere is simply no evidence whatsoever to suggest, or even hint, that legislation is needed to classify exotic reptiles (namely Boas & Pythons) as "inherently dangerous animals" in the state of North Carolina. To go through with this blanket ban would be an injustice to the people of this state who responsibly exercise their right to keep these animals as pets, and to the people who make their living breeding and selling them. Remember, reptiles had nothing to do with the introduction of this bill, so there is absolutely no reason to arbitrarily and indiscriminately lump them in together with it.

Dean RipaI am the director of N.C.'s largest reptile park and museum, the Cape Fear Serpentarium. This bill is foolish and shortsighted.
W. Gray RushinEncourage education and responsible animal ownership - support our efforts through the North Carolina Association of Reptile Keepers (NCARK) at ncark.org
AnonymousA ban will not do anything!

Petra JesseEverywhere I go I here US is a free country. Is it? So how come if you are not majority you are ignored? Exotic pets are supposed to be dangerous and therefore they "need to be banned" how about cigarettes, cars, guns,etc...? I could name so many way more dangerous examples that are OK just because it would be way too inconvenient to ban making cigarettes - even though they are not good for anything except of making government nice cash...so how is this a free country - it is free only if you are very rich...I find it sad
Paul R. Moody III feel the bill is unecessary. Taxpayers and voters having their rights taken away. WE PAY THEM!

Adam RichardsonHorses and dogs are 100 times more dangerous than reptiles. This is an encroachment on our freedoms.
AnonymousI have researched the number of incidents involving large captive snakes in the USA and to date, I have not found one substantiated case where a human death resulted from a boa constrictor or python. To label them as a public safety hazard is simply ignorant and imaginative. S.

Brandon BoekeThis particular situation should not apply to all animals, in particualr reptiles. In every exotic animal community, there will always be those who do not follow by the rules, and unfortunately cause the harm of others. If you wish to take this case this far, then try to think of all the incidents involding dogs, which have just as much ability to cause harm. In the hands of a bad owner, a dog could become dangerous to others, and if this is allowed, then you have no right to take exotic animals away or restrict access to those who know how to take care of their animals, and know where to draw the line. Pythons can be restricted to cages, while dogs and tigers can escape from their boundaries and cause harm. Please do not seize this opportunity to restrict all exotics, as you will be robbing your citizens the right to be good keepers. I pray you will make the right decision, and will not allow the actions of a few affect all others. Thank you, for your concern and for your consideration.
Nate BramwellSeems a little irrelevent to ban reptiles because a child was mauled by a tiger. (snake.....tiger? come on)
ghouspleeeeeeze do not impose this ban!!
AnonymousWhile I agree that it is ridiculous to keep an animal like a tiger as a pet...many reptiles can make wonderful pets. Do not punish reptile keepers over the negligence of one family. Also, if the child had been killed by the aunt's dog...would you try to ban all dogs from the state? What if the child would have been thrown from the aunt's horse and killed, would you ban all horses from the state?
