I'm not exactly sure what's the criteria for one to be elected to the "Pro Football Hall of Fame." Which by the way, I visisted when I was a kid. But when I think of the words "Pro Football Hall of Fame", Art Monk epitomized evey word in that phrase. Unless the emphasis is on the word "Fame" I can't think of any logical, statistical, un-biased, critical analysis of, reason as to why Mr.Monk shouldn't be inducted into the Hall Fame. If it is indeed an honor bestowed upon a select few of professional football athletes, then I most certainly think it's our obligation, our duty, not just to Art Monk, but to what the Hall of Fame itself stands for.
If his absence is about The Pro Football Hall of Art Monk, then I can see why we haven't inducted him. Because that would emphasize individual achievment. But if it's about the The Pro Football Hall of Fame, then sirs please let's do what's right vote Art Monk into the Hall of Fame. If not, then maybe we should simply erect an institution in his honor, not because of individual achievement but because of the contribution he made to the game on and off the field.
Art Monk was and is truly an Ambassador - a Statesmen not just for pro football but for professional sports eveywhere. |

Art Monk's stats should speak for themselves, he is a Hall of Fame caliber receiver whose stats currently eclipse every other receiver already inducted. He did all of this before the age of pass happy offenses and did it all quietly and with class, not drawing attention to himself but focusing on his team. So why isn't he in Canton? What does this say about the committee? That accomplishments mean nothing if the player is not telling everyone who will listen how great he is? Are we to believe that unless a player refers to himself in the third person or carries a Sharpie he is unworthy of football's highest honor? If that's the case then this is not the Hall of Fame but the Hall of Shame. |

There is NOT one current Redskin player in the Hall that helped the Redskins win all 3! There needs to be ... and he should be the first!
AIf thats not good enough. Art Monk retired as the NFL all time reception leader. Watch old replays of Redskin games and he was always referred to as "Future Hall of Famer."
Art Monk made so many big catches in big games ... to list them all would embarase the hall that he is not in it by now.
Art Monk ... class act on and off the football field.
It's a no brainer he should be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
It's become the "Pro Football Quaterback Hall of Fame" and that's not right. The standards need to be re-evaluated so that all positions receive equal consideration. The standars are way too limiting and are unfair. The standards need to make place for kickers and punters ... they play the game too.
Why isn't John Madden in by now ... something is wrong people. More people need to be let in ... the world won't end if the standards are re-evaluated. I wish you luck ... Pro Football Hall of Fame ... don't wait until people die before you put them in. |
