michael | boston | KY | US | HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A FIRST TIME GO WHAT INJUSTICE!! WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY WAITING FOR OH!! THATS RIGHT FURTHER REVIEW.
tom | kazemi | VA | US | just cause espn dose not like him, should not keep him out!!!!!
James | Sullivan | CA | US | Art Monk never played on one of "my" teams, but he was a joy to watch. He certainly belongs it the HoF.
Jeremy | Bynum | | US | I had the opportunity to go to Art's football camp in Maryland when I was young, not only did the man finish his career at the top of most reciever categories, but he is a top notch man as well. I still remember the time he took to speak with and tutor me as a kid, he had coaches there for that, but he took the time to do the leg work himself. And this was in a championship year for the Skins, just after the 1987 season, imagine that a class act in the NFL. He was my favorite player then and meeting him had me star struck, and extremely impressed, an impression that has stayed with me to this day. I was justa young knucklehead, he didn't know me from Adam but he took the time to show me how to behave on and off the field. Its because of examples like that that a lot of young knuckleheads learn how to play on the field and to walk in life. Send him to the Hall period, hes got the stats and the class.

Anonymous | Anonymous | | US | The best ever in my book.
Mark | Britto | VA | US | In this age of shameless self promotion, it is a shame that a player of Monk's ability and character is not in the HOF.
Matt | Anderson | VA | US |
Matt | Baker | | | I have been to his camp and talked to him one on one and he's a great guy.
Jared | Sylvester | | US | The best then, and the best now!!!
Brian | Charles | VA | US | In addition to his statistics, which speak for themselves, Art Monk's conduct, which consistently demonstrates class, has earned him a spot in the Hall of Fame.
Ted | Howard | MD | | Not only does he have those great numbers as well as having the number one spot in the nfl record books in multiple areas upon his retirement, but he did it in a run based offense. if he had Montana or Elway throwing to him rather than Joey T. can you imagine...
| 567 | Anonymous | Anonymous | | US | Art Monk was one the
number receiver when he
retired so that should be
enough for him to be
Inducted to Hall of Fame |
Chuck | Maksimchuk | | |
William | Whitley | VA | US | I was 18 years old when I watched live on tv as Art Monk broke Steve Largent's record. There are less qualified HOF inductees than Art Monk. He has 3 Super Bowl rings to go along with all his records. There are inductees in the HOF with no Super Bowl rings. Warren Moon was a great quarterback, but he never won a Super Bowl; yet he was inducted in the Pro Football HOF. I agree, Art Monk belongs in the HOF. If the voters don't place him in the HOF, then they are settling for mediocre instead of first class. I think that the voting system needs to be altered so that prior inductees to the HOF get to vote on the nominees to the HOF.
Sheila | Whitley | VA | US | It's time. It's time!
Christian | Lamar | GA | US | Art Monk was a great NFL player. He redefined the wide receiver position. He absolutely should be in the NFL Hall of Fame! PUT HIM IN!
James | Phillips | | | It is far past time for Art Monk to be voted into the Hall. ..There is no other explanation for 6 years of denial by the voters other than pettiness by the writers who couldn't get a juicy quote out of Art during his playing days.
Clint | Fetty | OH | US | The Greatest and most stoic receiver ever. He definitely deserves to be in the Hall of Fame!!!
Charles | Boyer | | US | The best skin ever!!
Anonymous | Anonymous | VA | US | Yet again Monk has been left off and it's time for this to stop.
Erik | Moldstad | | US | His stats are better than Irvin's and he didn't have any off the field problems. He also won at least 1 Super Bowl.
David | Radcliffe | NV | US | What a disgrace that he isnt already in. Almost 1000 catches.
KEVIN | HALL | VA | | ONE OF THE BEST TO EVER PLAY THE GAME. YOU ALLOW SOMEONE LIKE MICHAEL IRVIN IN ON HIS THIRD YEAR, WHAT A SHAME!!
Cameron | Gilliam | FL | US | Apparently character doesnt mean anything to the 40 voters of the selection commitee. I guess Monk should have done cocaine.
Joseph | Ealing | | |
chris | lucas | MD | US |
Anonymous | Anonymous | | | Monk should DEFINITELY go in before Michael IRVIN! That's REDICULOUS!
Dan | Hickey | RI | US | Absolutely absurd that Monk is still excluded.
Shawn | Day | WV | US | A true class act on and off the field. What the NFL needs more of. Shame on you Hall of Fame.....
Matt | Rosenberg | | |
Michael | Cook | | US | When Art scored a TD he would hand the ball to the Ref! My father would say "that is when you know your good, no need the showboat" Art is a Class Act who played the game better than any WR at the time, He definies what a Hall of Fame Player should be.
Anonymous | Anonymous | | |
Katherine | Crawford | NY | US |
Rob | McKinney | | US | Art was an outstanding player AND person. He's one of the greatest WRs ever and deserves to be in the HOF, especially since the voters have sunken low enough to vote a criminal like Michael Irvin in. Irvin has the stats, but NOT the morals to represent the NFL in the Hall of Fame.
Tod | Partin | VA | US | How come Riggo and Gibbs are the only 2 Redskins from their 3 superbowl winning teams? Why does the NFL continue to hate the Skins?
Anonymous | Anonymous | NJ | US | The fact that Art Monk is not in the Hall of Fame is an indication of where we are headed as a nation. If your not a loud mouth self loving criminal you dont get any recognition for your accomplishments. Art Monk was and is a man among men for his work ethic his humility his leadership qualities and the way he carried himself on the field as well as off. I will not visit the Hall Of Fame until he is elected and I am sick to think that Micheal Irvin got in ahead of him. I guedd 940 reception and three superbowl rings with three different quarterbacks throwing to him means nothing. I really dont want to hear anymore sports writers or commisioners or owners blabber about how they want players to be more respectful. Wow what a great message were sending to the youth in this country. I cant wait until ten years from now, maybe then they will come up with some ridiculous reason why Marvin Harrison shouldnt be there either. After all he is a descent human being on and off the field.
James | Madden | MD | US | When he retired he held the most important records in receiving. He was also the first to catch more than 100 in a season. Whoever has not voted for him does not know the game of football.
james | jones | VA | US | i don't know how the hall of fame voters vote irvin in and not monk.
Ted | Branthover | MD | US | no question he should be in the Hall
clyde | carrington | DC | US | It is a travesty that Art Monk is not in the hall. He surpasses the criterior for admittance and has better numbers than most that played his position.
Thomas | James | CO | US | Art Monk deserves Hall status, period. His accomplishments stand for themselves and exceed stats for other players already elected. On top of it, he has stood for everything good that a professional football player should be. His not being elected into the Hall to this point is a travesty and a clear mistake on the part of apparently ignorant voters.
Anonymous | Anonymous | | | HOF selection committee should be ashamed. Dr. Z of SI.com in particular. Voting against this guy should automatically result in revoking your press pass. And I'm not even a big Monk fan. There's not a NFL player or coach (alive or dead) that would not have wanted Art Monk on their team. He defines and personifies HOFer.
