| 503 | Anonymous | Anonymous | | US | I was listening to the Dan Patrick ESPN radio show with someone who is part of the Hall of Fame selections. He responded to Joe Theismans comments
that he was against nominating Monk. He said it was a local thing and he didn't feel he was qualified as he wasn't a great player with great records and was only popular with DC fans. However he would vote for Michael Irvin (whos reputation "STINKS") and
Troy Aikman who he admits didn't have the greatest numbers but played in the framework of the offense that Johnson set up. HE should listen to what he's saying as he's talking out of both sides of his mouth as who did more for his team as a player and a good person.
This whole selection to me is biased and another way of selecting players should be found. |
Alan | Armstrong | | | It is a travesty that Art Monk has not yet been selected to the Hall of Fame.
Anonymous | Anonymous | | | it's a travesty that this guy is not in the hall. they should close it down until some of these people wise up.

Angela | Basnight | VA | US | It is so heart breaking and angering each year that goes by and my Hero does not make it into the Hall of Fame! He was one of the finest players to ever have played in the NFL!
David | Rakes | VA | US |
Joe | Bouch | VA | | Art Monk is without a doubt one of the best receivers to ever play the game.

Fred | Mason | | | More receptions than any other hall of famer in a run oriented offense with other star receivers (Gary Clark, Ricky Sanders, Charlie Brown, Alvin Garrett). Three Super Bowl Rings

Saro | Petrossian | VA | US | I grew up in Alexandria,Va and at an early age loved the Redskins. Art Monk was a class act because he was respected by every NFL player. I only watched him lose his cool one time when I believe a Philadelphia Eagle defender made him mad and Art kind of slapped him on the helmet. I got pumped up during that game seeing Art Monk angry. Great memories from a great receiver.

Matt | Mullins | VA | US | Monk has more career receptions than any current member of the Hall. The Hall has no dignity if they will not induct Monk.
Mark | Kalriess | | |
Mike | Hernick | MD | US | I am not sure what the politics are that have held up Art's induction. He was the first big receiver, a team player, never had any off field problems and held most of the recieving records.

Monroe | Strawn | CA | US | he was jerry rice before jerry rice
Anonymous | Anonymous | | | Art Monk was the Redskins. My earliest memories of Redskins football was seeing Monk and his greatness on the field. If a coke-head like Irvin gets in before Monk, the Hall is thus disgraced.
Mike | Evans | VA | US | I think that Art Monk deserves to be inducted into the Hall of Fame over a crackhead (Irvin). The man has more receptions than anyone else in the Hall. The man was a class act both on the field and off the field. He and Rice played harder than everyone on the field both past and present. There is no doubt that Rice will get in, so why don't the voters see that Monk was a very talented player and rightfully deserves to be in the HOF. The man is a class act. If Irvin deserves to be in and Owens will probably get in, give Monk the respect he deserves.
Norman | Lynch | MD | US | How many balls might Monk have caught if his QB was Montana, Young, or Aikman. To be the NFL's all time leading receiver even for a second with all of the bums Art had tossing the ball to him is Hall Of Fame worthy on its own. Or if had played they majority of his career in the 90's when receivers caught 30% more passes. Peter King and Dr. Z can't keep him out forever! Every Monk supporter should drop Sport Illustrated if they haven't already untill either Monk is in the HOF or they fire both Peter King and Dr. Z!
Elliott | Sadle | KY | US | Set records for: 1) most consecutive games catching a pass. 2) Most receptions in a career 3) Most receptions in a season.
Kennard | Brunson | VA | US | It a shame that voting for the HOF relies on biased sportswritters some much. If it where up to players and coaches Monk would have been a first ballot hall of famer. PUT ART IN THE HALL!!!!
Janie | Blakely | | US | No matter what the Redskins were going through, you could always count on Art Monk, His spirit permeated the team throughout his tenure. As a leader of the Posse, he was more valuable that Wyatt Earp and Marshall Dillon combined. Although his stats say so much--no numbers or words can fully express his contribution to the Redskins' legacy. He is a true sports hero and deserves to be in the HOF!

Jim | Moore | FL | US | It's time to right the wrong and get the most deserving guy not already in the HOF what he earned!!
reggie | tinson | | | I cancelled my suscription to sports illustrated because of the nonsense that peter king says that art monk does'nt belong in the hall. just look at the stats man!!! he is one of the best of alltime. put him in.

Anonymous | Anonymous | | | It will a sad day if a certain coke head with a big mouth gets in the hall before Art Monk. This is the Hall of fame we're talking about. It's supposed to be about what you did on the field not a popularity contest.
Gene | Kay | | | Can't believe Monk's not in the Hall of Fame. I'm not a Redskins fan. Grew up a Lions fan, and the Redskins always beat us, in the 1980's. I hated the Redskins for that. But Monk deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. He has more receptions than guys like Stallworth and Swann, who are in because they were important coggs in winning 4 Superbowls. Monk was an important cogg in winning 3 Superbowls, with 3 different QB's. I can't think of reason he's not in the Hall of Fame.
April | Allen | MD | |
Anonymous | Anonymous | | | It's just horrible that someone this talented, and professional, would not be instantly inducted into the Hall. He pioneered so many things in the receiving position. Justice has not been done.
Chris | Myers | | US | Football needs a guy like Art to be in the Hall.
James | Bean | | |
Rick | Gunter | VA | US | The Pro Football Hall of Fame is less an institution without Art Monk among its inductees.
Sean | Gillespie | CA | US | This man is long over do for the Hall of fame LONG OVER DO
Nicholas | Nassim | | US | Keep the faith. It will happen sometime.
