James W. BeyersARUSThe citizens of our state and those who visit our state should be allowed the same considerations as boaters, fishermen, campers, hunters, etc. receive from our State Park System.
LarryArmstrongKSIt would hurt no one if the parks were opened to detecting.

GaryCoxARUSAlmost all states allow hunting in their state parks. Metal detecting doesn't hurt a thing. We actually pick up the trash that other throw down.

JoeLawsonMSUSTourist -- would be willing to pay reasonable user fee comparable to fishing or camping for metal-detecting.
BettyWeeksORUSWe who enjoy our hobby of metal detecting have an excellent relationship with our state park rangers. We belong to the Adopt a Park program, and knowing funds are low for our stae parks, we gladly spemd time at least 5 times a year picking up trash left by OTHER park visitors. Metal Detecing is a hobby that many misunderstand. We DO NOT leave holes, trash or other evidence of our probing for lost articles We return many valuables each year. We devote time to our younger generation and show them the fun, education and awarness of the history of an area. This is a hobby for all ages, beneficial to all and recommended by Dr's as a great form of excercise for our seniors who have health problems. Sincerely, Betty Weeks, National President, FMDAC

AndrewWestmorelandARUSMany times my family and I avoid camping at our State Parks because we cannot use our detectors there. I've been camping at DeGray Lake EVERY summer since I was a little boy and I've always been disappointed that I could not detect at the State Park. I have noticed many dangerous items over the years on the beaches that I know detectorists would have picked up and thrown away. I try to pick up what I can anyway, but with more volume of people ie: detectorists combing the beaches, I'm sure we could make a noticeable impact on the cleanliness of those areas. Please consider the good that we could do if we partner together on this issue. Thanks for your consideration.
FrankCollettiNYUSPlese reconsider the use of metal detectors in your state parks. Metal detectorists travel and visit many areas, and they are careful to remove all trash and leave the area better than it was before.
chadkunceIAUSwe have the same problem here in the city I live in. The parks commissioner says that the park attendents don't like the metal detectors in the park. But who are they to decide for all. parks commissioner says his hands are tied. I don't think it's right to keep the tax payer's out of the parks.
Barbara A. CooperWVUSTrue metal detectist are very very careful with their digging. You never know that they have been there and will leave area as they find it.
johnporterMAUSAs A guest to your state I would sure like to be able to metal detect in your park. I am earth wise. I don't dig up good plants. I plug the tiny holes I make. I drag all the garbage I dig up away. I am an asset to your park not a liability. As a tourist I spend money in your community.
GordonGibsonOKUSPlease work with us.
LarryDobbsOKUSI will take my vacations where I can metal detect!
GwenLandenLAUSSince Arkansas is close and offers an abundance of things to do we enjoy visiting. We also stay for several days at a time. One of my families favorite things to do is METAL DETECTING. If there is not many places to do this in Arkansas I guess that we all will go some where else to enjoy our hobby.

STEVEBOLENNMUSPlease open parks to metal detecting, my grandson and I hope to do some metal detecting when we come to your state. thank you very kindly , Steve & Steve JR.
DennisBrownILUSI fully support the petition and just like hunting and fishing, a license system could be established to control the hobby in the parks.

D & MCleavesCAHi Arkansas State Parks As a tourists travelling through your State I have heard that you are banning the use of someone using a Metal Detector in your State. I guess you do not or your State does not income from tourists - Gas, Hotels, Camp Fees, Food, Car Repairs, Restraunts,
Jimmy McWilliamsMDUSArkansas has many beautiful vacation spots. I have spent many of my vacations in this beautiful state. I will not continue to visit or spend money in Arkansas if they continue enforcing their current metal detecting policy. We who enjoy the hobby of finding objects buried in dirt deserve the right to be allowed to mtal detect on Arkansas State Parks. We leave places much cleaner than we find them cleaning out all junk, glass, sharp metal and nails we find. We fill up all our holes after recovery of buried objects. I ask the great state of Arkansas to please reconsider their policy and vote for change.

GeorgePasvantisPAUSTo whom it may concern, i think that your wants and petty ways are a disgrase in not wanting to let the good people in your home state metal detect in the parks that there taxes pay for , i also think you should let them hunt to find the lost items that can be shown to the public that was lost by our fore fathers, i would love to find items lost by my folks and i think they would too, and besides it would not be lost forever under some damm gouvernment dump that they will be paying for later on down the line. from a fellow metal detectorest,, George A.Pasvantis Penn Hills Pa. member of the (fmdac) and member of the (silve seekers) (mamdc) of western pennsylvania.
EdwardDavisINUSWe are not bank robbers or terrorists, why should we treated like we are anything but decent hard working american hobbyists.
rickschrammCAUShere in california we are allowed to detect in certain areas of our parks. no major digging is allowed, but a small dig and then covered up as neatly as possible. We do community service by assiting our police departments, detecting the playground areas at the parks(some of which are state parks) for foreign objects(razors, nails, etc). Detectorists should be allowed to enjoy their chosen hobby just as others. We do more good in our communities than we do harm in the parks.
james ehunt srOHUSmetal detecting should have the same rights ase everybody hobby.the parks sould be fore everybody.
WilliamGrochowalskiMIUSWith a policy like yours no need for me and my family or friends to vist or live in your state thank you William Grochowalski

AltonSulliventTNUSI was born and raised in Little Rock. I'm a disabled Vietnam vet and understand how narrow this law is as I have fought for this country, and have every right to my hobby in the state parks as do those with other hobbies. This law is discrimination at it's lowest level. Please rethink the logic behind it. Thanks, Alton Sullivent
BobbyCombsARUSI believe medal detecting should be a part of the State Parks just as fishing, camping and hiking.
ClydeNimalOHUSAt the very least, please be willing to consider opening up the beaches and picnic areas in your parks to metal detecting. Theses areas have no historic or archaeological value and should be ok for those of us who like to metal detect to practice our hobby.
