America is in great need of a candidate for president who can form and lead the broadest bipartisan coalition possible to solve our country’s urgent problems.
The American people have repeatedly supported centrist candidates who place the good of the nation and the need for broad consensus above party politics or personal interests.
Through your skillful and successful bipartisan method of leading and governing, you have demonstrated there are voices of moderation that understand the need to reach out to all people, whether Democrat, Republican, or Independent.
Our country needs your leadership. You speak the language Americans are anxious to hear.
Governor Warner, the undersigned believe you are an effective leader, capable of renewing the strength of the Democratic Party and bringing it back to the “core democratic values” that have been the foundation of our great traditions.
While we understand that no President can solve all the problems facing our nation, we have great faith in you as one who will truly change the tone in Washington from one of divisiveness to one of mutual cooperation for the common good of all Americans.
By signing this petition, we join others in urging you to answer the call to run for President of the United States or accept a position on the ticket for Vice President.
Should you answer the call, we will do everything we can to help you restore public faith in our government in Washington.
