Early this year, Washington decided to terminate the Comanche helicopter program with our own Sikorsky Aircraft. The Comanche would have brought billions of dollars and hundreds of jobs to Connecticut. Now we are in danger of losing Sikorsky’s most prestigious honor, building the presidential helicopter, Marine One. Sikorsky is presently in competition with the British-Italian consortium of Lockheed-Martin and AgustaWestland. Connecticut’s workers have already sustained a great loss in the Comanche program—we cannot allow the world’s most prestigious helicopter to be built by anyone else but the world’s most prestigious helicopter company!
