| 168 | Matthew | Naglich | IL | US | Who would want a single incident of bad judgement to be weighed so heavily against them? There is not a court in this land that would not take into account the age and circumstances of this student into account. Surely many times things are said in youth in moments of passion.
In addition, the response of the university to a first time incident is incommensurate with the so called offense.
While Blogs are actually public entities, did the university take into account the degree to which this student marketed the blog to others? Did he link his blog to other better known sites?
If it can not be proven that the student did not attempt to disseminate his ill worded views to the world, then one wonders why the response is as severe as it is.
More importantly, the School policy being invoked here is so vague as to make all students fear that it may be applied to them for similar -- or worse -- lesser reasons.
Please reconsider the effect of all the unwanted public attention on the student and attempt to build a bridge, if you actually care about him.
