8 CarlosIrizarryWIUSI seem to recal something called "The First Amendment" granting freedom of speech to all American citizens; does MU feel their rules superceede the law of the land?

17 NathanielRomanoWIUSI am a Marquette alum, graduating witha B.A. in May 2003 and am currently studying for a J.D. at University of Wisconsin. I think that Marquette's actions in this area are deplorable and should be reconsidered.
18 JakeCreecyUSA university is a place of learning and expression, not blatant oprression.
19 AdamChernowUSHow is critizing a prof on your blog any different from doing it verbally?

23 ToddKrumholzThis is insane. Why doesnt the dental school worry about more important things than a blog. Quite trying to ruin someone'e life because you are an unhappy person.

27 BryanNelsonThe choice by the administration to punish this young man is atrocious. He has shown poor judgement, but that alone is not reason enough to completely curtail the expression of free speech. This sets a dangerous precedent, and I for one can guarantee no money of mine will ever go towards a censorship minded organization such as Marquette University is showing itself to be. Go Warriors.

29 CraigSteelCAWithout reading the entire blog - rather than excerpts quoted by both sides to bolster their arguement - it's impossible to determine whether MU overstepped it's bounds in terms of punishment. What is glaringly obvious however is that the MU staff who adjudicated the hearing violated any reasonable concept of fairness. The student appears to have been singled out for reasons which aren't immediatly obvious. Perhaps Lynch is indeed the Professor who was referred to as the c$%^master?

33 BrianTurnbullTNUSAs a student at a private University myself, I really hope MU can come around on this issue and save what is left of their reputation.

36 LauraMcDanielWIUSBS in Dental Hygiene, 1975. I was disappointed in Marquette when they dropped the Dental Hygiene program, and am now even more disappointed in the position they are taking with this young man and what they have done to his professional career. I have a feeling that many of these administrators spent more than 15 minutes in the Ardmore....I know I did.

40 PhilipHoffWIUS I was listening to the commentary of this issue on a local talk radio program and think that a professors inability to accept the rights of their students to freely express themselves... especially at an institute of higher education... is unacceptable and is something that all all political pursuasions can agree upon.
41 TerressaBatisteWIUSWow. I expected much more from Marquette's Administration. Way to keep the alumni donations pouring in.
