The petition
On behalf of the Marquette University community, the signatories to this petition wish to state our enthusiastic support for Marquette's Reserve Officers' Training Corps program.
Marquette ROTC students are exemplary members of the Marquette family, putting excellence and service at the forefront of their daily work as present students and service members, training to bring peace to the world while honing their skills in the classroom.
Such students will join Marquette alumni across the world who labor to achieve peace through strength, whether on fields of conflict or in the resolution of tension in far away lands. As with the alumni of today, they will honor themselves and their Alma Mater by their service.
We honor the mission for which they serve: the preservation of freedom for liberty-loving peoples everywhere. We acknowledge that the greatest force for peace in modern history has been the United States Military, as affirmed by grateful, free societies around the world.
We thank Marquette ROTC students and alumni for their future service on behalf of themselves and their University, and our country, on fields of strife yet unknown. We thank them for their selfless sacrifice so that millions of men and women they may never meet will know peace.
We thank Marquette University Administrators for their continuing and steadfast support of the ROTC program at Marquette. We ask that they continue their support for the many students and officer leaders of the ROTC program.
Finally, we call on all members of the Marquette University community - students, alumni, faculty, administrators and donors - to join us in our support of the Marquette family's ROTC students and program.
