MRSA Also Know as the superbug Sould be a reportable infection. Children are dying across our country from a SKIN stap infection that is resistant to antibotics. A Infection that could be stopped. When a child is found to have the health departments should be notified along with The school systems if they attend or daycares. BECAUSE with out it being reportable it is being hiden when there is cases and no way of tracking how bad or how many!

MRSA infections that are acquired by persons who have not been recently (within the past year) hospitalized or had a medical procedure (such as dialysis, surgery, catheters) are known as CA-MRSA infections. Staph or MRSA infections in the community are usually manifested as skin infections, such as pimples and boils, and occur in otherwise healthy people.CA-MRSA can cause life-threatening illness and death even when treated quickly However, it is clear that some of the recently recognized outbreaks of CA-MRSA are associated with strains that have some unique properties compared to the traditional hospital-based MRSA strains. However, further testing and confirmation of CA-MRSA are needed.
At present, there appears to be at least three different known strains of staphylococci that can cause CA-MRSA infections in the U.S.

MRSA strain uses a deadly protein to attack the immune system.

Though PSMs seem to be important in understanding community-associated strains, they are one piece of a larger puzzle, says Henry Chambers, a microbiologist and physician at the University of California in San Francisco. %u201CIt is unlikely and in fact naïve to suspect that there's a one size fits all virulence determinant in Staphylococcus, because they have so many,%u201D he says.

School districts in at least six states Thursday reported students infected with MRSA, a super strain of drug-resistant staphylococcus bacteria that is responsible for the deaths of at least three children.

Ashton Bonds, 17, of Bedford, Va., died Monday as a result of the infection. Preschooler Catherine Bentley of Salisbury, N.H., and Shae Kiernan, 11, of Vancleave, Miss., both succumbed to the infection last week, officials said.
WE THE UNDERSIGNED ARE RESPECTUFULLY REQUESTING THAT THE MRSA (SUPERBUG) INFECTION PLEASE BE PLACED ON THE MUST REPORT INFECTIOUS DISEASE LIST FOR THE CDC, ALL HEALTH DEPARTMENTS AND ASK PRESIDENT BUSH TO PLEASE SIGN THIS INTO LAW. SO MANY CHILDREN ARE INFECTED NOW. HOW MANY CHILDREN DO YOU KNOW THAT WILL KEEP A BANDAID ON THE WOUNDS? THEY TAKE THEM OFF ALL THE TIME. THIS IS ONE WAY WE BELIEVE THE GERM IS SPREADING SO QUICKLY. CURRENTLY IT IS NOT A REPORTABLE INFECTIOUS DISEASE WHICH PUTS ALL PEOPLE IN WORK SETTING & SCHOOLS AT RISK.
