Rick AgostaThe one thing I've been looking foward to in this dreary Winter was my Redsox games on Optimum. Cable offered a fair package to us last year........why take it away??MLB....give us a freaking break.

GreggOnce again baseball sells out fans. The government needs to step in and save america's past time from being destroyed by money hungry owners. Congress needs to stop this anti competitive stronghold. First Directv has sole rights to football, now baseball. You have to take out a 2nd mortgage to go to a game these days and now they are taking the games off of cable. Even after paying for Extra Innings for 4 straight years on cable we are expendable. Big business always gets there way. because the fat BS liar politicians never stick up for the people. They line their pockets with kickbacks and look the other way. So much for having representatives that look out for us by actually doing the job that they got elected to do.
AnonymousThis is an unfair deal for the general public. To be forced to use one supplier for Extra Innings baseball is not fair. I am a subscriber of a competitor of Direct TV and will not switch to Direct TV to receive the Extra Innings" This will be MLB's loss if they go thru with this "exclusive" deal.
Cindy MartinYou are creating a monopoly, the exact thing the utilities are being deregulated from.
AnonymousI think DTV is triing to take over all the sports and being a sports fan this makes no sence ...The amount of customers who have DTV is only 14% and for MLB to think this will help the fan base they are crazy ...If DTV gets this Ill stop watching base ball all together ....Bad move MLB
Alanna LaroThis is one of the most ridiculous, absurd, greedy things I have ever seen!!!

AnonymousI love the way MLB is screwing over the most dedicated fans. Hope they are happy $$$$$$$$.

John MorningstarSign this deal, MLB, and you've lost this fan forever. I am sick and tired of everyone trying to stick their hands in my pocket and robbing me blind, and will not tolerate your outright stealing from me. I will be done with ML baseball forever. It took me 10 years to get over the strike in 94, but this time, there will be no turning back. I have better ways to spend my money.
AnonymousThis is a travesty. I was raised on baseball and raised my kids on baseball. If they allow this to happen, I will never again, pay to watch another game. That means I will never go to a game and I certainly would never switch my cable service. And who in their right mind would want to watch baseball game on their computer! I'm horrified.

David CarlsonGiving the Extra Innings package exclusivly to DirecTV does nothing for the fans other than show them that it is all about business and MLB doesn't care about its customers THE FANS!

AnonymousThis is BS. I saw that Baseball thinks their only losing 5,000 viewers b/c that's the number of people who "can't get DirectTV" but that assumes that we're all willing to ditch our cable carrier and switch just to get the baseball package. What a crock.
M PerlmanI am very disappointed in the fact that I will not be able to see the Dodgers on In Demand as I have the past few seasons through Cox Cable. I am originally from Brooklyn, and have followed the Dodgers for over 50 years. This proposed deal is an affront to all Baseball fans.

D JaegerIs Mlb trying to ruin their fan base? Instead of pissing off just 85% of baseball viewers why not go out on strike again and piss everybody off ....fuckin' assholes.
Mark GearyI think this deal is rediculous. Baseball season has become a staple in my life and this deal would be a life changing event.
Riley Greider
Bob JohnsonI love watching MLB provided by my cable TV provider. I love the Cubs and Dodgers and will see relatively few games if this change is made.
David NelkoThis is just wrong. I don't even really watch baseball or follow it but I do enjoy it on HD every once in a while. Plus I like to watch my home team (Cleveland Indians) every once in a while since I don't live there any longer. I thought this was America's sport, not DTV's.
Jim NeumanI don't mind paying, but if this goes through I have to swithc to Direct TV.
Evan WebeckI may still be able to watch the M's, but this is still wrong
Paul Lehman
Evan GreggGive me a break
Richard WeisbergIf this deal goes through, I will cease buying tickets to my home team, the Mariners. I'm a baseball fan and watching many out of market games on cable is core to my enjoyment of the game. MLB rejected the latest offer from InDemand to keep MLB EI on cable because it fell $30M short of DirectTV's bid. This amounts to $1M per team per year. IF MLB wants to sell out 85% of its most ardent fans for a lousy $1M/team/year, I will do my part to take revenue away from my home team by not attending their games. I respect that MLB is a business, but they need to remember who their customers are.

Paul DussaultBeing active duty military, this was how I WAS watching my Yankess while being stationed in CA. I WILL NOT purchase Direct TV just for Extra Innings so I guess I'm screwed. I don't understand why they can't do BOTH markets. I wish I could get YES Network out here. :o( I'm bummed.
Edwin E. HollidayWe changed from DirectTV to Dish last year, because DirectTV wouldn't connect us to local channels. Now that DirectTV is trying to cut Dish out of MLB Extra Innings, we are being whipsawed as to service -- local TV or MLB. Aren't these airwaves to serve the public?
Barbara MontgomeryI understand the money element of this, but I do NOT understand how anyone can believe this is good for the baseball fans everywhere. People won't switch to satellite dishes over this, and the fan base will be offended at the indifference to 85% of us. Don't do it!!
Steve CarhartMLB is acting against the public interest with this deal, and should no longer be allowed to do business without having to honor the anti-trust laws of the USA. The MLB exemption from the anti-trust laws needs to be revoked!
BillI read somewhere on the internet about the latest deal between MLB and Direct TV. I read that a baseball exec. somewhere stated that there were enough games broadcast that the current pay preview issue shouldn't be a problem and that the fans shouldn't be so greedy. My response to that is that I live in Hawaii by way of military deployment and as a result I have to rely on ESPN or the occasional game of the week in order to see any games. Hawaii isn't a big baseball state and as a result the local network channels rarely broadcast any games and ESPN seems to broadcast the more popular teams so of course I hardly ever see my team (Cincinnati Reds). Hawaii is more of a football state which is evident of the attendance at the University of Hawaii's baseball games or the winter league baseball games. It is obvious that baseball is not that popular here and as a result I might see the Reds once or maybe twice (if am lucky) a year. If my wanting to see more than 1 or 2 games out 162 makes me greedy then forgive me, but being a fan I’d like to catch as many games as I can. So enter Dish Network a few years ago who offered the MLB pay preview package, but not without an additional $500 in equipment (that is not included in the basic setup or despite ordering the upgraded package). The additional equipment was required to get the signal from a second satellite because Hawaii is too far west to only have one dish for the two satellites (119 and 110) that broadcast the programming. Sat 119 for is basic and 110 for the premium channels which the pay preview is apart of. That’s not to mention the additional $280 to move the equipment when I moved houses. Incidentally I chose Dish Network over Direct TV because both had the same packaging deals, but Direct TV didn't offer the local channels. So I sunk my money into Dish despite the exorbitant amount to get the games. Now I will be darned if I am going to switch to Direct TV and pay the setup fees all over again. Because of a love for the Reds and for the game I paid the exorbitant price in order to get the baseball package. Now it appears all that is for naught and I will not be able to get the games once again. And that appears to be because of $700 million that MLB stands to make from this deal. What’s more important $700 million or the fans that have stuck around through thick and thin (the strikes and the drug scandals and all the other moral issues that plague baseball)? I applaud anyone for making a buck, but I also think someone needs to ask at what cost are we making that buck? I have to wonder if those things you hear players and management utter after a strike or some other negative incident is genuine or just some PR thing to make the fans feel all warm and fuzzy inside. You know the ones I am talking about. The ones where a player or member of management will be interviewed and proclaim how much he appreciates the support of the fans. If this deal goes through I will be the first to say that I don’t feel appreciated and what’s more my measly $160 I pay for the pay for the pay preview isn’t feeling very appreciated either. A $160 that does not come that easily to me. I have to work darn hard for it. I have endured (over the years) the scandals involving drugs and or steroids abuses and the strikes and the different arrogant players because I love the game, but I don't know if I will continue to be so loyal if MLB and Direct TV monopolize the pay preview market. Of course it goes without saying that I do not want to see MLB and Direct TV to make their deal.
