Lupus Awareness and the DMV

I am using this petition to try and execute change within the classification system of the California DMV. The California DMV has Systemic Lupus Erethymatosus classified as a "neurological disorder", which is simply not true. Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that can affect various parts of the body, especially the skin, joints, blood, and kidneys. It is classified as an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system loses its ability to tell the difference between foreign substances (antigens) and its own cells and tissues. SLE can have Central Nervous System involvement, but this is NOT indicative of a "neurological disorder". Please help me educate the California DMV. By signing this petition, you are supporting Lupus Awareness. This petition will be sent to the Director of the California DMV targeted for October 14, 2002. October is Lupus Awareness Month. There is no better time than now to educate those that are in dire need of it. Thank you.
