Dolores SmithI've been wondering if I should change grocery stores...I guess this has helped me decide.
Sandy DenmanI understand the impulse to make things easier to track for your administrative staff, but you need to consider how this program is used and the types of organizations it serves before you make a decision like this.

Pamela Hessevery disappointed in your decision - considering you need all the help you can get, looking at your current stock prices.
Penny RankinCommunity building is an important aspect of all future marketing strategies...beautiful big stores surrounded by ashphalt can and are perceived as representative of a business culture that is doing everything in its' power to remove itself from its' humble origins of the corner store...Fundscript is one positive and PERSONNAL way to bridge that gap...Dare you walk with your customers Mr Weston...do you not have children and grandchildren whose education you felt was important to be enriched? I ask you to think twice about the decision...bottom line...are you and your companies above remembering your roots?

AnonymousThe gift cards from your corporation were a wonderful way to allow teams such as ours to raise funds for the members(Hamilton Hoppers Rope Skipping) I am a frequent shopper of your venue and unfortunately will rethink where I buy my groceries in the future due to this huge oversite on your part.
Sandra StewartI started shopping at Loblaws strictly because it was a fundraiser for my daughter's club and have continued to do so for the last 4 years. However, if Loblaws does not support these community iniatives I will shop elsewhere.

Tammy JordanWhen I am supporting and elementary school while purchasing the gift cards, who thinks that is not a charity? Schools need the help and the profit goes to help all the children in the community, so I just do not understand LoBlaws resoning and I feel very strongly that they are wrong. How many people does it take to raise a child??? A COMMUNITY! So come on Loblaws, chip in and do your part help out your children, your neighbours children, your families children, show your pride and support a community!

AnonymousMr. Weston: I buy FundScript gift cards to support an organization called Onward Willow in Guelph. They help children in a very low-income neighbourhood with basics like formula, diapers, nutritious food, school lunches -- with products purchased at your own stores! So you get a double benefit! Please don't stop participating in FundScript -- these children really benefit from the program. Thank you for considering this plea! Gayle Valeriote

Janice & Eric KopaIt is a great way for schools to earn money and it benefits the parents at the same time.

Darren PayneHaving been treasurer of the Armour Heights Family and School Association for four years, I can tell you that we have worked dilligently to raise funds for our school which are primarily used for curriculum enrichment including computers, arts, music, physical education etc. as well as many other areas that the TDSB does not provide for like hygiene, library and in-class manipulative support. We also provide funds on a no questions asked basis to any family at Armour who's child would not, for financial reasons, be able to participate in any of the programs we offer. My daujghter will be finished at Armour next year but I was very excited to introduce FundScrip to our school as with our declining enrollment, it has been onerous on many of the families to contribute the necessary funds to maintain the programs we currently offer. As you will see from my attached e-mail, the fact Loblaws was involved was a huge selling feature for our school, esp. since there are 2 no-frills and a Loblaws in our immediate vicinity and I can assure you, the vast majority of our families shop at your stores. I sincerely ask that you would re-consider your decision regarding FundScrip and your requirement to be a registered charity. Believe me, I have tried to do that for our school but the logistics are incredibly prohibitive...and after all, we are just volunteers, mostly with full time jobs, looking to improve our child's education. Thankyou for your consideration. Darren Payne In effort to alleviate some of the pressure on our primary fund raising activities at Armour Heights (Direct donations, Silent auction/Parent Social, Fun Fair), we are introducing FundScrip fund raising to Armour Heights through the FSA as discussed at the FSA meeting Oct. 10th. FundScrip is based in Montreal and has a regional office in Mississauga headed by Colette Monroe (905-997-0072). The FundScrip "formula" has been very successful in the US and in fact is the number 1 fundraising method in the US public school system; several Mississauga and TDSB schools have signed up for the program including Lambton Kingsway, and Leslieville (pilot program). FundScrip's motto is "If you are shopping, you're fundraising!" and that is exactly how it works. You sign up, purchase debit cards and spend away at stores you would normally shop at including Loblaws/NoFrills, Home Hardware, Esso, Canadian Tire, Winners, Chapters, Indigo, Starbucks etc. to name just a few (for a complete listing visit http://www.fundscrip.ca/ ). FundScrip has negotiated discounts with these retailers that come back to our school on a monthly basis (percentages vary but can be found on the web site). As a for instance, if your family spends $500/month at Loblaws/No-Frills or $6000/year, you would automatically be contributing $210 back to AHPS (3.5%) for no additional cost to you! And some of the rebates are even more significant…like Winners and HomeSense at 10%! Please take a few minutes to go to the FundScrip website above for more information and to view participating retailers. I have attached the single page that was passed around at the FSA meeting and will send more detailed information home in the Friday files, likely next week as I am away tomorrow AM through Sunday. If you have questions or comments, please feel free to call (416-781-9982) or e-mail me ( dvpayne@rogers.com , darren_payne@ml.com).
Leanne GoldenThis is easy for me ... If Loblaws has forgotten its allegiance to its loyal customers, who only want to spend money in their stores, I can easily forget Loblaws. Sobey's products are of an equal quality ... and often better priced. If Loblaws doesn't reinstate FundScrip, I will make the switch to its competitor, in a heartbeat. (And I will spread the word to others as well!) Do the right thing Loblaws .... Listen to your customers and help out your community at the same time. Anything else is just shameful!
