| 851 | barabara burchjolla | Another land grab? This is getting quite ridiculous. Chicago is becoming another Disney World; just for the tourists. Left to their devices, they will be drilling in Lake Michigan for oil. . . |

| 855 | Jim Schmidt | The lakefront park system was always meant to be for public use, anyone and everyone. It seems to me that the plan to build a private school's(the Latin School) soccer field on a section of Lincoln Park is a clear violation of the open lakefront philosophy. I, as a citizen of Chicago, am firmly opposed to this private land grab of our public lakefront. This action must not be allowed. |

| 857 | Priscilla Butler | The park should remain public, no matter who wants to make a deal. |

| 859 | Gregg Hodgson | Although I no longer live in Chicago, I still do business in Lincoln Park.
Chicago's greatest treasure is its miles of uncommercialized lakefront, the legacy of Daniel Burnham's foresight.
Mayor Daley's late-night destruction of Meigs Field (which I had used) made it apparent that he considers the lakefront to be his private estate, and that he views the public as troublesome serfs whose access to that land he can withdraw at will. This latest attempt to arbitrarily privatize part of that public land in disregard both of Burnham's Plan and of the will of the majority of the park's users and neighbors is further confirmation of his autocratic attitude toward this irreplaceable public resource.
By marshaling platoons of attorneys against the citizenry--in place of open and public hearings--he further underscores his belief that his might makes right.
It does not and should not. The public should have a powerful and respected voice in such plans. Privatization of any part of this public jewel could well be the first step toward its eventual loss to the citizens of Chicago. He should not be allowed to begin on that invasion without the consent of the people who will be most affected by those actions. |

| 869 | Elizabeth Lux | It is supposed to be a PUBLIC park, for all residents to use. This is an unfair back-room deal. |

| 873 | Donna Conroy | We view this as privatization of public park lands and as such call on the Chicago Park District to void this contract and to hold open, transparent, and sufficiently publicized public hearings to allow for full public discussion to address the many liabilities and dangerous historical precedent inherent in this ill conceived venture. |
| 874 | delphyne woods | |
| 875 | Alex Boucher | |
| 876 | Noel Ann Bonamer | This is a PUBLIC park, hence it should stay that way. No amount of private funds should change that or we'd be just changing the rules in the middle of the game. The park belongs to everyone, all the time, not just the people with the money! Take heed legislators and residents of more to come if we don't stop this one. |

| 883 | Jay Welsh | DePaul recently paid for track and field renovations at Lane Tech because they didn't have their own track. Why should Latin take such a great degree of control over a public space? They shouldn't; this is a dirty, backroom deal, typical of Chicago politics. |
| 884 | Anonymous | I live down the street from the school and park, used to be a teacher. I see no reason for the Latin school to take ownership of any of this property. The children are allowed to use this property at any time and so should the taxpayers of Chicago. |

| 886 | carolyn pollka | Even if Latin ends up wtih some private time, there is no way that htey should be allowed to profit from public use - that means no advertising, no admission charges, etc . |

| 888 | Richard Finkelstein | The Park District should have open hearings. Latin School should be ashamed of itself for the way it has handled this whole affair. Is this the real Civics lesson that you are teaching your student body? |
