The petition
The world has waited too long to learn the true origins of Abraham Lincoln.
Lincoln's exceptional character stemmed not only from his upbringing but also from his parents' genes and the community from which they came.
We request that our government use all the means necessary to determine the accurate lineage of America's 16th President.
We request the usage of the authenticated Abraham Lincoln DNA materials, currently held by the U.S. Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, to compare with the DNA of each of the following male descendants of families claiming the President as part of their lineage.
In each of the four cases listed below, all have agreed to participate in this most important test:
1. Tom Lincoln - Husband of Nancy Hanks and currently recorded as the father of Abraham Lincoln. The last living male descendant is Ernest Lincoln of Virginia.
2. Abraham Enloe of North Carolina. Dr. Frank Enloe of Waynesville, North Carolina, prepared materials for such testing before his recent death.
3. Richard Martin of Rutherford County, North Carolina. The family still has descendants in the county.
4. John C. Calhoun of South Carolina. The last living male descendant is Andrew Calhoun of Savannah, Georgia.
All four possibilities need to be examined by the most respected scientific lab available. This will put an end to speculation on the topic.
