The petition

Lea Bridge Library is a beautiful but run down Carnegie library in the heart of Lea Bridge in London, one of the poorest neighbourhoods in the UK. We are local volunteers called the Friends of Lea Bridge Library and Gardens who are campaigning for funding to restore this building and turn it into a community run resource. Too many people in our community can't access the help they need to study and realise their ambitions. Our children have so many plans for the future but they need the right resources to inspire them to succeed. We believe that a refurbished building offering not just books but educational and social opportunities for all would help local people achieve their potential - and that could bring benefits not just here but across society. We have just one chance to win funding for our project so please sign our petition and help us lobby Waltham Forest Council and the UK National Lottery to approve funding for the restoration of this building and the provision of community learning services for the people of Lea Bridge. You can read all about our campaign and the work we do as well as watch our short film at our website www.library4leabridge.org.uk.
