1560 Mary BoydI lived in Ghana for four-and-a-half years and feel very close to this beloved country. When I think of Ghana I have a warm feeling for the people and the country, to the point of feeling part Ghanaian myself. I therefore implore the Government of Ghana to release the women and children arrested on March 17 and secure their safety. Please do not revoke their refugee status. I always admired Ghana for its thirst for democracy and its desire to return to civilian rule as soon as possible after military coups. Freedom of expression, freedom to protest, and freedom to ask for better conditions are all part of the definition of democracy. Please, leaders of beloved Ghana, treat those women and children with protection and freedom. Don't punish them for their courage. They suffered enough already. Sincerely, Mary Boyd

1571 AnonymousI have worked with these women, where else are they to go? They contribute to the economy and have done no harm in the time they have been in Ghana. Do the right thing.

1577 Roger G. MaceTo Whom It May Concern: I agree, and these people deserve to be treated well, just because they are humans. And secondly, for your information, My wife and I have established The Mission Of Hope Childrens Ministries in Zone 12 of the Buduburam Refugee Camp during the winter of 2007. We currently have ten individuals that are living in the home. My wife had to leave the camp, just because it became very dangerous for her and she flew back to America on March the 4th and arrived on the 5th. We currently have a house manager and his wife, our adopted Liberian son that oversees the home.We support this petition and request others to be involved. Sincerely, Roger & Debera

1588 Senator Jean SchodorfThese are innocent, helpless people who are at the mercy of the Ghanian government. They only want to live in peace. There are orphans and children who have no home. They need help and not deportation at gun point. Schools have been closed. They need food and education.
