Sir,
You supported the attack of Israel against Lebanon. However, this position is far from reflecting the opinion of the majority of Canadian citizens.
WE, citizens of the most pacifist country in the world: CANADA, people of various origins and various beliefs, are requesting your intervention as the representative of the population of a free country which believes in equality and justice.
The Lebanese people paid of their blood during 15 years for war for the Israeli-Arab conflict. After 16 years of relative peace, is it fair to once again take Lebanon as a scapegoat? Is it right that it is taken hostage, his people destroyed and exterminated for a cause which is not his?
The total blockade that the army of Israel currently exerts on Lebanon, the bombardment of the ports and of the Beirut’s airport, the destruction of the majority of the main roads, the overpasses, the bridges, the power stations of Lebanon and the MURDER OF DOZENS OF LEBANESE CIVILIANS by the weapons of Israel, is humanly revolting!
Thousands of Canadians from Lebanon are right now stripped of their freedom, and cannot leave Lebanon. Can’t Canada do anything to help them?
Our voice is joined by all the pacifist people who still believe in justice in this world to ask you:
To condemn the attacks of Israel against Lebanon
To do everything necessary to put an end immediately to the hostilities |
