| 1 | Jesu Ocana | I have rejoined LA Fitness after a two year layoff. The sole reason to join was to ply racquetball during weeknights. A part of my plan as a member of LA Fitness has always included league play. I am very dissapointed that LA Fitness has opted to discontinue leagues. Please recinsider your choice on this matter as I am reconsidering cancelling my membership and joining another club that indorses racquetball.
Thank you,
Jesus Ocana, LA Fitness Member |

| 5 | Scott Fauque | The organized and sanctioned racquetball activities is a great way to encourage comradery and a LAF family and social environment. It is many positives and encourage new racquetball players. I have witnessed many new players, including women, children, playing. You can tell new players by their enthusiasm (as well as skill) level. They are having fun and it is very postivie. Leagues help tie these folks together and give them new partners and people to play with. Thanks for listening. |

| 7 | Anonymous | Gregg Sheffield and I became friends at the original LA Fitness in Long Beach when he sold Chen on a vision of promoting racquetball and making it a profitable sport for LA fitness. I hope LA Fitness continues its committments to the sport of racquetball. |
| 8 | Craig Lane | Any cancellation to the racquetball would be detrimental to the work and membership numbers of LA Fitness. This will affect thousands of members that have joined solely to play in the leagues. |
| 9 | Paul Dylewski | I am very upset at the suggestion that LA Fitness discontinue Racquetball leagues and events... it is the only reason I belong to LA Fitness clubs. |
| 10 | David Horton | It has recently come to my attention that racquetball leagues and shootouts are being cancelled. I have to say that I am personally devastated! When I turned my life around three years ago and decided to join a gym, I choose LA Fitness because of racquetball! I have been a dedicated LA Fitness league player in Irvine since I lost the 30 pounds (with the help of a Pro-Results Trainer) and got reacquainted with the sport after 20 years of not playing. Last year I started going to shootouts and this year I was planning on going to many more.
I can state with absolute certainty that I and many other people became and remain members of LA Fitness because of Racquetball Leagues and Shootouts. Yes, I understand that LA Fitness will still have courts to reserve and there are challenge courts and pick-up games. But, these are not the same. They don’t provide the same level of competitiveness and opportunity to play different people. And, of course, the coveted league tee-shirt! I have happily spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars every year just for the chance to win a tee-shirt.
As soon as my son was old enough, I signed him up as a member of LA Fitness. He is currently playing in his first league, and he is so excited about playing racquetball like his father. I had to tell him his first league was also his last! He doesn’t understand and I don’t either.
I knew Greg Sheffield through the leagues at Irvine. He encouraged me and guided me. I feel life he was my mentor. I miss him greatly. He never saw my son play, but I know he would have been proud to see a new player grow and develop because of his accomplishments at LA Fitness. This decision is a terrible blow to Greg Sheffield’s legacy.
Right now I don’t know where else to find competitive racquetball leagues like LA Fitness, but, you can be certain I am going to look. |
| 11 | Kevin Horton | They only reason my dad signed me up to be a member of LA Fitness was so I could play in the racquetball leagues like him. |
| 12 | Oscar Canez | I am a member with LA Fitness and Life Time Fitness. I joined LAF for the racquetball courts,
shootouts and league. I have met other players through the league and now play on a regular basis. If the league and shootouts are discontinued, then I might cancel my membership with LAF. |
| 13 | Patrick Griffin | To KC Lee and whom it may concern,
My wife and I are new members of LAF for the primary purpose of losing weight and to get fit. We have decided to utilize the LAF trainers to help us attain our goals quicker. For myself I am driven very much by the fact that there are numerous racquetball functions that go on throughout the year at LAF, any one of which I would be very disappointed to be without. I am new to the area and I need these functions to get to know the other members of LAF with the same rball interests. I am sure you would also be interested to know that, like many other members, I have friends and family who are potential future members and who will most assuredly follow my lead on which fitness center to join. I always have and always will strive to do my best to advance the sport of racquetball in the place where I live. Obviously this includes patronizing the facility that has the most to offer in the way of racquetball (not just the most number of racquetball courts). Thank you.

| 14 | Ryan Schneider | I have been part of LA Fitness since I was 10 and my family and I only transfered to LA Fitness because of Racquetball. Please do not do what you guys are doing. This is disrespectful to Greg Sheffield! All the years of his hard work! |
| 15 | Adam Anderson | I am not a member of LA Fitness, but I fear that I would definitely naver become a member now..Racquetball is a great sport for anyone and brings in good, honest people. It's a gentlemens game.(or ladies) Not near as unruly as basketball..I hope that all racquetball members, and others, leave LA Fitness for several reasons.
One. racquetball is one of the better activities to burn calories in a short period of time.
Two. LA Fitness is being unloyal to its customers for the "thought" of more money..
Three. There are more but I tired,, So it's just rude. |
| 16 | Joe Dorner | |
| 17 | Sally Jane Griffin | We joined LA Fitness for it's racquetball facilities and programs. |
| 18 | Michael Rocha | |
| 19 | Sam Brust | I am extremely disappointed in the lack of support that LA Fitness has shown for this sport. It is because of these leagues and shootouts that I have become so devoted to racquetball. Without the leagues and shootout I see no reason why I should continue to be a member of LA Fitness. |
| 20 | Bruce Cole | Please continue racquetball leagues and shoot-outs at LA Fitness |
| 21 | Bryan Haas | You want to know my comments? Go on meetandplay.com and read them.
I've said my peace.
Cancel racquetball and I'll dump my 3 memberships the next day and so will everybody I know. |
| 22 | Steve Cohen | Greg Sheffield would be jumping out of his grave if he knew of your decision. It is an injustice and disgrace to his memory. |
| 23 | Bill Donges | Please don't hinder organized racquetball. From what I understand of LAF and its investment in the sport/activity it makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever.
Thank you,
Bill |
| 24 | Julia Mouser | LA Fitness, see my February 22, 2008 email letter of complaint to KC Lee that says it all! Kindly consider and respond to same. |
| 25 | May Hernandez | Please do not cancel the leagues and shootouts. |
| 26 | Andra Carbone | Racquetball was the reason we switched our membership. PLEASE keep it. It is very important to many people! Thank you. |
| 27 | Eric Brown | This is a completely near-sighted course of action. racquetball club pros frequently off-load their work onto league captains, who volunteer their time to run individual leagues. I know this, because I am one. This will hurt LA Fitness's goal to continue to attract new club members, as there are now less amenities from which to choose.
I've been a member since 1996 and chose LA Fitness solely for racquetball. |
| 28 | Vijay Ramamurthy | As per my earlier email, the racquetball leagues and shootouts are my primary reasons for even having an LA Fitness membership. |
| 29 | rick Villavicencio | I have known Greag since 1980 and I know he would want racquetball to not only continue but to grow. It's unbeleivable that anyone would want to dicontinue these leagues. The sport is popular and has brought in so many knew members to LA Fitness. |
| 30 | Jay Ovalle | |
| 31 | Christie Singleton | |
| 32 | Terry Cooper | Please look at the ages of people that particpate in basketball vs raquestball. Basketball participants are much younger generally 25-35 compared to raquetball 35-50. Don't take leagues and particpation away from older members |
| 33 | Michael Trujillo | I signed up for a membership a couple of weeks ago specifically for the raquetball activities. Please don't cancel the leagues. |
| 34 | Stephen Bergman | One of the main reasons I joined L A Fitness is for the opportunity to compete at a quality racketball level. Racketball is a sport I have been playing for over 20 years now 10 of which has been with L A Fitness. I pay extra for the opportunity to do so as well. It is unbelievable that L A Fitness is in the process of eliminating this popular sport without even an clear explanation. Does management have a clue about what they are doing to allienate their valued members??? |
| 35 | Anonymous | I NEED MY BASKETBALL & RACQUETBALL OR MY KIDS WILL DRIVE ME INSANE!!!!! |
| 36 | DAVID KLATT | I HAVE ALREADY SENT MY CERTIFIED MAIL TO CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP. I WILL FIND ANOTHER CLUB. |
| 37 | David Adamson | |
| 38 | Jason Frank | The sport is really starting to boom right now!! ESPN is going to start covering this event!! Bad time to be cutting ties with racquetball!! Please don't!! |
| 39 | Israel Rivera | |
| 40 | John Basehore | |
| 41 | Stan Kirk | The only reason I joined LA Fitness is for the racquetball. The leagues / tournaments is what keep me coming. Get rid of these and I won't have a reason to stay. |
| 42 | Joshua Reza | Greg Sheffield would have never wanted leagues or shootouts to stop! |
| 43 | Beth Rainer | I enjoy the leagues very much and enjoy developing my skills in the this formal setting. Not having leagues would be a great disappointment. |
| 44 | Belinda Harris | Please do not discontinnue the racquetball leagues. |
| 45 | John Carbone | Is "spinning" an Olympic sport? Yet, organized spinning classes are held regularly. Racquetball is an excellent sport for even older folks like me who can't run the length of a basketball court any more. The leagues offer encouragement and reward, and lead to continued membership. |
| 46 | Victoria Ellul | I will also consider leaving LAF and going to another closer gym if you are pulling the racquetball programs out. |
| 47 | Andrew Amezaga | All of the la fitness members have backed LAF up to this point; in fact we have been one of the driving forces behind the growth of the program.
I can only hope LAF comes to there senses and continues to support racquetball in ALL thier facilities. |
| 48 | Steve Thompson | I don't understand this decision in anyway unless you plan on converting the r-ball courts into b-ball courts???????
If this indeed happens, maybe I need to consider Lifetime Fitness. |
| 49 | Ken Bennett | Racquetball would not effect anything to do with your basketball desires. |
| 50 | John Miller | I am very disappointed that LA Fitness is shutting down the racquetball activities. I had a choice of joining Lifetime Fitness or LA Fitness. I chose LA Fitness because of the Racquetball activities. |
