The Florida Park Service has announced its intention to close its Key Largo biology office, an undertaking that will not improve productivity or save the state any significant money.
The Key Largo office is located in the Florida Keys, and as such is responsible for providing crucial advice that is needed to protect Florida’s marine resources located in some of Florida’s most pristine areas, including the only living coral reef in the continental United States. For 27 years this office has provided this much needed service to the Florida, Department of Environmental Protection and other state and federal governmental agencies that have continuously relied upon its unique expertise. Residents of the State of Florida, as well as Florida’s environment, have been the direct beneficiaries.
Please help protect Florida’s coral reefs, seagrass and other critical marine resources by signing this petition asking the State of Florida to abandon its ill-conceived plans to close this much needed office. |
