please take this very seriously. It will be an eyesore and so out of keeping with the original character of my neighborhood.

Parking in Five Points is no better or worse than it is around the University, downtown or in the Vista. Columbia would do better to spend the money on police and fire department support for the entire community.

I think anything over 2 stories will distroy the ambiance of 5 Points particulary in that location.
It's hard for developers and businessmen to turn away from dollars in their own pockets, but sometimes, the will of the community needs to prevail! After all, it is our money serving as capital for those individuals' profits (and the city won't make back its part in our lifetimes)! The developers will move on to the next cash cow, and the community will be left with what they have wrought.

This project is wrong, do not spoil 5-Points!
I feel that this building will ruin the village atmosphere and historical look of 5 points.

We need to require development of more green space in the area and height as well as design restrictions to preserve the village-like character of the 5-points area.

This whole process smells. Looks like the "good-ole-boy system" at work. NO we do not want a building of this size built in Five Points.

I certainly don't think it would hurt any one to have to walk from Claussens Inn to their shopping in Five Points. This society needs all the exercise it can get - and for those who can't walk, put in more handicapped parking spaces.
I am tired of behind the scenes workings, somebody must be getting their pockets padded behind the scenes---it makes no sense not to put it up for local or otherwise bidding, no wonder the people of south carolina don't trust their officials.

As a tourist visitor to Columbia, I can only the distruction of a wonderful tourist attraction if tall structures are allowed to be built. I am from Florida and I know what overdevelopment can do. If you don't believe me, come for a visit, talk to our people and decide if this is what you want....
we do NOT need this monstrocity. there is suficient parking in 5 pts. People mighy have to, dare I say it, walk for a bit , from their parked car.

I am very, very opposed to this monstrosity being built near an established residential neighborhood and fundamentally changing the character of both the residential neighborhoods and Five Points itself. I have a choice in where I live and spend my money. I live near Five Points because of its charm and character. I spend my money there because it is a neighborhood marketplace. The city council is elected to protect the general welfare of its citizens. This would do nothing more than line the pockets of a few people.
The city needs to be comfortable with its liability on this project as well as the holes in the contract.

What a horrible and stupid idea!
Way too much money being spent on Five Points and Main Street, at the expense of other parts of Columbia. Too many projects that only benefit a few Columbians when city money should be spend to benefit ALL of the people. If tennis courts are needed, let the neighbor hood associations raise the money to build and operate them. Get rid of the RR crossings in the down town area. We can't become a major city until we eliminate this "small town" characteristic. The roads in Columbia suck... road stripings are nearly gone on most streets; traffic lights are needed in the SE area, but none are coming our way (e.g., Atlas Road and Veterans Road). The house of cronies needs to go. And so do the developers!
