Petition to keep the name "Brookline Warriors"

The petition

A female student at Brookline High found the team spirit of the Warriors volleyball team offensive (feathered hats, mascot etc). So now the school might have to change the name and mascot of BHS teams from Warriors to something else. But come on "The Warriors" what name could be better, so in order to stop this unneccesary change we started a petition. How could someone be offended by feathred hat and the name "warriors". Maybe people think that by calling ourselves the Brookline Warriors we disgrace the Indians by calling them Warriors which usually refers to savages, instead of soldiers which refers to a civilized army. This is not the case, we call ourselves the Warriors to honor the courage the Indians had to rise up against a superior enemy, to honor that even in defeat they inflicted a tremendous amount of damage to the enemy, to honor the individual Indian warrior and to honor that they chose to die as warriors rather than cowards and submit to the European armies. They chose to Be Born Warriors And To Die Warriors.
