| 226 | Dale Fahnstrom | The Latin School, a well financed private institution, has demonstrated significant failure to adhere to the principles of maintaining the public trust. As a teaching institution, where youth education should always be done at the highest level, the Latin School has promoted complete disdain for these principles. Shame on them. And, shame on the Chicago Park District for being complicit in this affront to the public interest for open access to the common property of the lakefront. While the courts have ruled for dissolution of the contract with the Latin School, they must also rule to remove this entire project from the site and restore it to the people as was intended originally. This project must be halted. |
| 227 | Pat Spaulding | We must all work to protect this vital lakefront land from commercial and other interests. |

| 232 | Frederick Carmean | This is a land grab by the privileged few, who have tried to slip one past the general public. This land grab adversely affects all of the taxpayers in Chicago and especially affects the less-privileged among us. This needs to be fought in the courts as far as it can be fought.
It is also a demonstration of the lack of transparency when it comes to government in this city, county and state. |

| 237 | Lynn Orawiec | There is not enough green space, and this is bowing to political connections and influence.
Do not rip up our precious resources. The Latin School obviously caters to those with the most resources. It is not acceptable to trample - literally- over those without the clout of this school. |
| 238 | Thom J Alcazar | As with other attempts to sell land that belongs to the public for personal and private gain, I appose this project/scam by what is supposed to be our caretakers. These politicians need to understand the word care comes first. |

| 245 | Paul Trombley | It takes just a little imagination to suppose that the Latin School, its administration, and apologists PLANNED on communitiy opposition to the public-private partnership it negotiated in private with the Chicago Park Dist., just as there was opposition to Latin's similar scheme about 6 years ago.
So, what did the Latin School hope to get as a result of community oppostion to their Dec. 2006 scheme? A soccer and a field hockey facility most use of which would be by the Latin School but without the inconvenience of actually having to pay for it. The malcontented elites of Latin would burden the taxpayer with the cost of their pet project yet reap most of the benefit, just a like welfare-for-business racket established with statutes by Congress or through common law by activist SCOTUS judges. If a Latin school affiliate, also a member of the Chi. Park Dist. Board of Commissioners who was appointed on Sept. 12, 2005, happened to add this deed to his resume along with his other accomplishments, so much the bettter for the drama.
Now, what the CDP needs to do is this: (1) Expel employees and board members responsible; (2) Restore the site to its previous condition (using contractors other than those involved thus far); (3) Sue the Latin School to recover assets sufficient to make the taxpayer whole. |
