We, the undersigned residents of British Columbia, draw the attention of Hon. Rich Coleman, Minister Responsible for Housing, to the following:

THAT:

· The Conservative federal government announced the end of subsidies for co-operative housings across Canada from now through 2020;

· These cuts will affect families and individuals living in Burnaby co-operative housings;

· Many these people are young families, seniors, people with disabilities, single parents, and new Canadians;

· Many co-ops are in urgent need of repair and maintenance;

· Co-ops are fighting to keep the fees affordable all the while housing prices in Burnaby have increased significantly and continue to;

· The right to secure and affordable housing for all is fundamental;

· Protecting housing affordability is a provincial responsibility;

THEREFORE, we call on the Honourable Minister and the Government of British Columbia to create a concrete and sensible solution to tackle the housing crisis.
