The petition

Last week, Congressman Jim Marshall (D, Georgia) was one of only eight Democrats who voted against legislation to continue and expand SCHIP, the federal program that under girds PeachCare, the Georgia program that offers poor working families the opportunity to purchase lower cost health insurance for their children. While the SCHIP bill overwhelmingly passed both the House and Senate, President Bush has promised to veto the bill. By signing this petition, you are asking Rep. Marshall to stand for Georgia's children and vote to override Bush's veto. It's time for Georgia Democrats to stand together to make sure children of the working poor have access to quality, affordable health care.
