When I ran away, I ran to get away from violence only to have police bring me back to the same disfunctional place. It's too bad that parentless kids get no voice and can never be heard. All that DCFS showed me is that I am a product of low life parents and because the Government has no money, I cannot have a decent life or future. I was raped, beaten, and had a child from this rape while in the State's care. I get no help from the State though my child came from this atrocity. DCFS keeps me from giving my son up to foster care. PLEASE, hear my cry ot there will be others like me. |

| 1834 | Crstal Mishler | Its time for a change. There needs to be stiffer penalties for crimes against children. Life in Prison may not even be enough for the pain that the perpetrator causes an family. All child abuse laws need to be stiffer and so do the penalties for such abuse.
Also Hospitals should be required to teach parents before they leave the hospital with a new born about SBS. Also need to be given pamphlets on what is child abuse and how it affects children. That way know ahead of time 50% of the work in helping innocent children is in Education. If more people know how damaging what they were doing was to a child they would be less likely to do it.
Also Public schools during Parent teacher nights, Parent teacher conferences need to help when educating on abuse and it effects. Also give information on where to report abuse and how to get help your self if you abuse your children.
Child abuse is often a learned trait you get from your parents or care givers. So not every parents know how dangerous it is. Which is another reason some people need to be sterilized. |
