AnonymousPlease do not allow any more treed areas in Niskayuna to be destroyed. We have enough ugly examples of expansion and "progress". The historical significance of the property should not need a defense. It is a community treasure to be proud of.

Catherine Munson-KleinEnough development! Let's preserve the historic and natural beauty of our town for generations to come.
John MunsonWe already have enough monuments to the destruction-crazed mentality in this town. Natural and scenic areas are relentlessly destroyed, and we end up with eyesores like St. James Square. We don't want our town turned into just another anonymous site for cookie-cutter stores. Preserve Niskayuna.
AnonymousWe have plenty of Malls in our area....all seem to duplicate each other. Please make full use of our current empty Malls and shops in Schenectady county before building new future empty ugly buildings which only end up being eye sores. We need to preserve any historic places and keep as much green as possible. Greed has never brought enrichment to our society.
Angela FinkYou can never get back this type of character once it's gone. This building has not only historical importance but it is an active and working resource - not a vacant run down building. Please don't let this happen.
fred w. staubFar better to make greater effort to fill the near empty St.James mall..or should you not have allowed that one either???

Ellen FruehI find it outrageous to think that this beautiful spot of green may be replaced by yet another strip mall when there are more than enough empty store fronts in the area that could fill this need.
Bruce A. HeapMy vote is for preservation. We do not need any more empty stores in Niskayuna.
Karen Marionmailing address: 1315 Stanford St. Schenectady, NY 12308 note: let's not lose this land & building that is a part of our history & trade it for a generic use that will render it like any other town
Truthwill SetyoufreeWhere were you people for the DECADES that this property has been zoned commercial. What were you doing about it during the 20 years you were Town Supervisor, Ed Reilly. What were you doing about it during the 20 years you were Town Historian, Linda Champagne. A lot more valuable green space than this parcel was developed during the time you two were at the helm. The developer has committed to save the building and making a restaurant there where more people will visit the building than would be possible otherwise but now you are whining about the loss of the view of the building from State St. Give me a break. This is a commercially zoned parcel surrounded by commercial uses. It is a reasonable project that should be built as proposed.

Susan HickeyJohn Duncan was my 5G Grandfather. As a descent, I strongly support keeping the property as it is! You cannot buy family history, but it can be distroyed. Thank you, Sue Hickey Boulder, Colorado
Ward HamiltonI am the owner of 'Olde Mohawk Masonry & Historic Restoration.' We are based in the Town and I am a tax-paying homeowner here. The Stanford Mansion (and its grounds!) is the only green space in this bleak corner where Colonie, Niskayuna, and Schenectady meet. I still remember, when we moved here from Boston in 1996, marveling at just how ugly and desperate the area seemed. The Mansion stood out, in drastic contrast. I wondered, "What was the view from that front porch, 100 years ago?" Another strip mall? More chain restaurants, banks, and pharmacies? I can live without it. St James Square is just up Balltown Rd. Its nearly empty and the perfect spot for the types of businesses that are slated for the Ingersoll property. What's my benefit, as a tax paying resident? Well, lets see... Mohawk Commons is rockin' and rollin'... am I getting a tax break? No, in fact they're going UP this year. So I guess I don't see the $$$ benefit, but I can appreciate the loss in this plan, both as a historic property and green space.

Emily Shusas-DenmanIt's really a shame when consumerism trumps historic preservation and restoration. I agree with the other petitioners who believe that St. James Square would be a much more appropriate place for any businesses looking to come to the area. Why destroy a perfectly functional building that adds charm and character to the area when there are other viable options?
