| 202 | Shirley Croken | Yes, preserve this land do not put a subdivision or shopping mall on this property.

Linda Muralidharan | I am equally concerned that this site be preserved for the direct purpose of attracting tourists to the historical riches of this area. Historical tourism is needed for economic development in Schenectady County.

Susan Nadler | If the county wants to put in another strip mall, how about in downtown Schenectady? That would benefit all of us.
Karen Connolly | There are numerous other locations for storefronts, such as St. James, that do not require such a drastic and contentious move such as the takeover of the Ingersol Home.
Bob DuMortier |
Elsa Melby | I stongly wish this property to be preserved. Please maintain our green space and don't allow this property to be developed! Thank you
Linda Shapiro |
Sharon Trant | Please vote to save this beautiful area. we already have enough mall space. Let's try and get businesses back into St. James Square!

Barbara Burgess | While I have supported some development in Niskayuna in the past, I believe this would be a tragedy. Limit new develpoment, especially for shopping, to the existing and in some cases underutilized areas that we have.
Edward Bell / Sirley Kilmer | This property has such an outstanding history and is a Balltown Rd, Niskayuna landmark ..it would be a travesty to remove or tear it down...any commercial development on the land would destroy the ambiance of the property.
Patricia Persky |
Harriet Rubenstein | PLEASE VOTE TO REJECT THE SPECIAL USE PERMIT FOR THIS SITE!!!!!
Sam Farkas | Both Niskayuna and the rest of the Capital Region have perfectly usable retail space sitting vacant! An example is St. James Plaza at the intersection of Balltown Rd. and Nott St. Retail "development" of the Ingersoll property will not only destroy an important piece of history but also contribute to pollution from runoff and increased automobile traffic as well as create further stress on the area's infrastructure. The Town of Niskayuna needs to concentrate on filling existing vacant retail space with locally owned businesses which bring a greater degree of community involvement and help flow money back into our regional economy. Additonally, locally owned businesses typically generate better paying jobs than the national retailers I fear that this development project is geared toward attracting.
D.M. Cregier | My wife (who signed earlier) and I have family in Niskayuna but live in Prince Edward Island, a Canadian province that takes historic properties very seriously. A developer here must jump through many hoops to demiolish any century-old building. It would be all but impossible in P.E.I. to desecrate the Ingersoll property with its many significant historical associations.
Terry Pelton |
Christine Wagner |
barbara ann Pytel | There is so much empty retail space in Niskayuna that could be occupied by the proposed restaurants and retailers. Losing more old-growth trees than we already have lost due to other "developments" does little to improive our neighborhood.
Marc Gauthier | member of Heritage Cornwall
Mark Wagner | I believe the issue is less whether the site remains in use as an adult home, and more the importance of preserving a historic site. The idea of destroying the site to create more retail space on Route 5 is absurd. It's like a punch-line to a bad joke. However, I am concerned that our Town Board sees the world that way. They seem to have shown a pattern of inexplicable judgement on such matters. I hope they can hear the voices of the citizens of the Town and consider the reasoning behind these pleas. I understand the Ingersoll Trustees desire to build a modern facility, but this site ought to be preserved and made good use of by the Town -- perhaps as a museum for displaying local history and artifacts.
Miichelle Mazuryk |
David Hoffa |
Julia M. Burgess | Save the trees.
Sanford Fialkoff |
Anonymous | The community leaders should realize that this area does not need another mall. There are some things more valuable than making money. I hope that good sound judgement shall overcome the rationale to allow for another mall.
Robert L Winchester |
Judith M Winchester |
Jonathan Kaledin |
Lillian K. Roe | No more malls, please. We have enough vacant stores in Niskayuna
Nancy Stopera |
r.a.dehn | We don't need another mall at the price of losing a historically significant of Niskayuna's history.
Noel J. Bylina | We do not need more stores/restaurants/drugstores in Nisk'y. We need to fully occupy all of the empty stores we have now before new stores should even be considered. Let alone the historical significance of this location.
Jacqueline Citriniti | I would like to urge the town board to recommend and Environmental Impact Study. Not only will this be effecting the environment and wildlife but water resources, air quality, stress on our emergency services, increased traffic congestion and flow, not to mention all of the impact on the surrounding neighborhoods, sense of community and the devestation of historic and archaeological significance of the Ingersol property.
DeeDee Bernson |
Jeri Heller | The town should declare a moratorium on new development in the highway commercial zone and rezone this land as a historic district. They should and use the building for professional offices or for historic or cultural uses.
Thomas J.Kennedy | Anew home could have been built on the existing site behind the current home, on a lrger piece of land than where the new home is being built. Put the strip mall on the Consaul Rd property.
