Garrett HermansonThe Schuyler-Stanford House (1814) is as historic as Albany's Schuyler and Ten Broeck Mansions and should be saved from demolition. The house is in great condition and could support itself with the right occupants.
Ernie TetraultI think it is outrageous that town officials have supported this destruction of an important historic site and green space in Niskayuna. I will do everything I can to make sure these people are not returned to office.

Ruth E. BergeronThe Ingersoll property is a green oasis historic treasure in Niskayuna. Once destroyed it cannot be replaced. Reducing it to a level area for more box stores is a travesty. There are a lot of vacant stores already in the area - one more drug store is absurd. There has been NO creative thinking by the present owners about a re-use for this building and its grounds. Their motto seems to be: "Destroy and move on!".
AnonymousSave the historic home.

AnonymousThere are enough commercial buildings in that area anyway and not enough historical buildings.
Kelly H. SalamoneTearing down this historic estate would be an terrrible tragedy.
Frank SalamoneWe are shocked that an adminsitration that we actively supported would go along with this.

Gloria Kishton, Chair, Schenectady Heritage Fdn.Schenectady Heritage Foundation opposes any degradation of this irreplaceable historic site. Every municipality must act responsibly to protect America's architectural treasures.
Nancy VanDeBogartI worked as a volunteer at this facility when I was in highschool. To destroy it would be a travesty.

Mike VanDeBogartWhat a shame to even think about tearing down this historical site!
Dr Roger MalebrancheI was a member of the Ingersoll's board of trustees in the 1970s. I was the chief of surgery at St Clare hospital in Schenectady for 17 years until I retired in 2000. I took care of the Ingersoll residents for all my years of practice and I am very aware of what is going on at this time. The proposal to dismantle this historical and beautiful site in order to make a few rich people richer and an area of Niskayuna already malled to death "MALLIER" is a shame, a disgrace and will tarnish the names of the people who are trying to push it through for the rest of their lives and for all of this region's history. Please don't be deaf to the voice of the majority of the public and the outcry of the local residents. Please don't mall Ingersoll.
David C. Furman, Jr.The town of Niskayuna already has empty stores; why encourage more? The short term gain in construction jobs and a small rise in taxes is not worth the subsequent problems of bankruptcies, disrupted residential areas, and empty stores.
Amanda VanDebogartDon't destroy it!

Elmer BertschThe town should work actively with county, state, and federal elected officials and their staffs on the town developing this property as a park/visitors/student learning center.

Lidia PasamanickI urge you to protect the Ingersoll from strip mall development. Niskayuna should guard the few historic properties it has.
Janet GivenThere are places I've visited recently on the east coast that have completely lost any of their regional character. Driving on Midlothian Thurnpike in Virginia is essentially undistinguishable from Sunrise HIghway on Long Island or the main surburban drag through Tonawanda, New York. Before you destroy this refuge, this neighborhood buffer, please reconsider. It can never be reclaimed.
Elmer F. BertschThe town should actively seek purchase of the property.
Leslie A WelshWhen I moved to Niskayuna in 1965 (and have lived until last year, when I moved one block over the town/city border) I was most pleased by the bucolic nature of the area. It was one of the main reasons my husband and I bought our first and second houses in Old Niskayuna. In the last twenty years, it seems like there has been a concerted effort to pave or build up every free inch of our community. To my eye, The Ingersoll Home has been one of the few places one can glimpse a bit of how lovely our community once was. I seriously doubt that we need another mall-how about filling St. James, or the empty spaces across the street at the Raymour Mall, or downtown? That scenario should at least be discussed further before a beautiful, historical, irreplaceable structure is torn down. Our children will not treasure another drug store.

Roger GrayIt is the duty of elected officials to protect and preserve the unique architectural and historical heritage of this region.

Laurel Tormey ColeThis special setting is NOT the place for more commercial buildings based on the short term gain of a few individuals. I am sure that the Trustees possess a larger vision and would not be so shortsighted. Sincerely, Laurel Tormey Cole

AnonymousPlease sabve this property as green space. I live directly behind it and haev for 40 years. We do not need another drug store! What we need is the beautiful green space and historic building that mark the entrance to Niskayuna.
AnonymousPlease do not make this mistake. Save the land and the building! Do not be short-sided and hungry for tax dollars by sacrificing this space!

AnonymousAllowing the development of this property would be a major mistake. Be creative, save the home and the space.

Linda CrandallI urge the Town of Niskayuna to support their own forestry program as stated in their codes. Locust Grove need not be destroyed for another not smart growth project. The Town of Niskayuna was proactive in its stance recognizing the importance of preserving green space. Now it needs to comply and follow through with its vision.
