We, the undersigned, are requesting the legislator of the State of Missouri to enact an infertility insurance mandate. The purpose of this mandate is to assist struggling families with infertility in the State of Missouri. At this time according to National Center for Health Statistic, there are over 9.3 million women who are using infertility services and 2.1 million married couples who are infertile and struggling to conceive a child. There are currently 15 States in the U.S. that require insurance companies to cover infertility treatment. Currently Missouri is not one of them, however our neighboring state, Illinois, is. In addition, the purpose of this mandate is to assist families who are struggling with this financial burden, as well as physical and emotional exhaustion. With the assistance of insurance companies covering treatment (IUI and IVF) and medication, struggling families will be able to eliminate financial stress and concentrate on the treatment and future parenthood. Children are our future without them our life journey is unfulfilled. Infertility prevents millions of families of fulfilling that dream. We, as a human race, must overcome this and with your help we will.
This petition will be sent to the Missouri Governor Matt Blunt on the 1st of August 2006. |

This petition has been sponsored by a family from St. Louis, Missouri who has been struggling with infertility for close to 3 years. We have had 9 unsuccessful IUI’s (Intra-Uterine Insemination) and 1 unsuccessful IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) procedure. We are currently pursuing parenthood through the adoption process and we are hoping, in the near future, to resume infertility treatment.
Thank you for your support.
