Today, an innocent Austrailan woman was found guilty in an Indonesian Court of a crime she didn't commit, and we need your help to get her free.
Schapelle Corby was convicted of drug trafficking and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment, and also fined $13,875, for a crime she didn't commit. A grave injustice from a so-called country reforming their government system. SHAME ON INDONESIA.
Although the evidence presented in her trial clearly proves Schapelle had no knowledge the drugs were planted, and the evidence also points that some Baggage Handlers at Qantas Airlines were involved in an illegal drug ring, the Indonesian Justice System didn't buy their argument. This signifies Indonesia's Justice System is flawed as they only hear what they want to hear, and that's not how a justice system is supposed to work.
Furthermmore, Australian Prime Minister, John Howard, didn't make enough effort to ensure an innocent woman, such as Schapelle Corby, got the justice she deserved and ensure the Indonesian Government was treating her fairly under International Laws.
It's obvious Australia didn't learn from Canada's mistakes when Canada didn't make enough effort to protect their citizens from unjust treatment in justice systems abroad, think of Maher Arar and Zahra Kazemi cases. Schapelle Corby is now in a similar situation to both individuals.
Therefore, based on the unjust conviction against an Australian Citizen who didn't know the baggage was planted in Indonesia, and the evidence clearly pointing she didn't trafficked the drugs, the Australian Government must make a greater effort to get Schapelle Corby acquitted and sent back to Australia without incarceration in Australia.
Help get Schapelle Corby get the justice she truly deserves. Get John Howard and Susilo Yudhoyono to push for justice for Corby.
