In order to create a safe and inclusive residence hall community all residents must work together to challenge acts of intolerance! Ways to do this are to:
Educate Yourself on How to Recognize Bias and Bullying!
Challenge Discriminatory Attitudes and Behavior!
Expect Discomfort During Conflict and Learn to Manage it!
Become Aware of Your Own Bias!
Actively Listen to Others!
Use Inclusive Language and Behavior!
Acknowledge Diversity!
Establish Standards of Being a Responsible Resident in the Hall!
Hold Others and Yourself Accountable!
Continue to Learn About Diversity, Privilege and Oppression!
Collaborate with Others to Foster a Safe & Inclusive Residence Hall Community!
After completing the Bystander Intervention Training during your first floor meeting you should read and sign this pledge. Go out in your community and use what you have learned to make the Illinois Experience amazing for you and for your fellow hallmates!
