Someone or group needs to be questioned about the intentions of such a HUGE error in judgement. Maybe public funded memorials are not as good an idea as everyone thinks. The memorial also highlights the success of the attacker/perpetrators and regardless of design rewards them as well. I imagine the next attacker sees the memorial as a trophey to their criminal deed. War memorials are one thing, but memorializing every incident in history with a elaborate expensive memorial funded by tax or other dollars seems excessive. That money could be used to fix things like schools, homeless shelters and attach the memorial name to a positive/good deed and we will still never forget, but could erase a negative element in the process. |
