In 1995 a young man by the name of Shannon Seigle was a victim of "negligent homicide", at a nursing home in Cheyenne,Wyoming. He drowned while being fed on a feeding tube. The charge nurse never called 911 or started CPR. It took approximately 20 minutes for this child to die as a result of this tragic event. During the diposition hearings it was revealed that the nurse intentionally committed negligent homicide because mr. seigle was being too noisy. As of July 20th, 2005 none of the person(s)responsible have been brought to justice, or tried in a court of law.All of the key people involved were known to, or have a history of alcohol abuse, drug abuse and vilolent felonies on their record.The attorney who handled the wrongful death suit for the family, embezzled funds from the suit, fled the country and now lives in Texas.Too this day no monies have been returned to the family despite their cry's for justice. A large part of this problem was due to the Wyoming State Bars use of excessive time used to investigate the matter (6 years). Now they refuse to re-emburse the funds taken by the lawyer that they licensed, and give it back to the family, even though the family has successfully proven it's case of embezzlement on two separate occasions. The current head of the wyoming Bar Association, has expressed that she will not allow the disbursement of funds back to the family because it could equal at least $10,000.00. Now she has ordered a third investigation and a "new" investigator in hopes someone will see it her way, so the family can be officially denied their monies. After contacting several attorneys ,no one will challenge the bar for fear of losing their license's.I need your help through signatures, comments and monies to publish my book and send several petitions to my local congressman/women and senator's to help fight this issue. I am the mother of Shannon Seigle, and I am hoping to collect enough petitions, comments and monies to help hire an attorney who will bring a civil right action against the State of Wyoming, for the violation of my civil rights and the rights of the deceased victim.I also plan on sending all petitions collected to Washington in hopes of getting new legislation that would not allow violent felons to work in the health care profession. Another option will be to publish the book written about this case. Currently the book is completed and I have had 4 offers from publishers to publish the book but I lack the necessary monies to complete the contract. Any offers to assist me in this endever will be greatly appreciated. |
