| 21 | Rushika Patel | Univ. of Mass - Amherst, UMichigan and UNorth Texas Alumni | I used to be an advisor for HSC at a Texas university. Members wanted to establish the HSC because they had common concerns and experiences with Christian fundamentalism and racism on campus. At that time we didn't know that the national HSC was in the business of exploiting the struggles and desires of first and second generation South Asians in the interest of funding the murder, rape, torture, displacement of entire communities and other forms of violence that are a part of the Hindutva package. I support those former HSC members who refuse to have blood on their hands and create new spaces on campus while continuing to courageously speak out against Hindutva and HSC - the same organizations that they themselves may have labored to establish. |

| 36 | Seema Sadanand | American University, DC | WOW!!! I just posted this last night and didn't expect it to catch on so quickly esp given I haven't sent it out to very many people. This is good peeps!
I've seen hindutva close up and its ugly and scary. Lets all also talk to HSC members in and around the places we are all at. Its important to reach out to all HSC members coz its dialog that will build a new and different reality for all of us together. Right wing nationalism - Hindu or Muslim, Christian or Jewish, Serbian or Iranian, is dangerous and all of us who seek an identity that we can inherit and be proud of, have a responsibility to ensure that it doesn't feed the violence of the right. |
