Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone opened in November 2001. It made 317 million domestically.
Chamber of Secrets opened in November 2002, and made 261 million domestically.
Prisoner of Azkaban opened in June 2004 and made 249 million domestically. The LOWEST GROSSING HP FILM. It was a SUMMER release.
Goblet of Fire opened in November. It made 290 million. It also made 146 million in its opening week, the most of any HP film in its opening week.
Order of the Phoenix made 292 million in July of 2007. Yes, it made 2 million more than Goblet of Fire.
But, the fact is, it's going to make the same amount of money no matter when you release it. Fans will go see it either way. And, it could end up like Prisoner of Azkaban (also a longer wait than most HP movies) and make less than expected.
Please, release the film on the date that you originally told us. It's going to make the company tons of money, anyway. |

First we get a preview with the OotP DVD that is awesome, and then NOTHING else for months and months.
Then we get a trailer that was amazing, but way later than Twilight's first trailer which, at the time, was released two weeks AFTER HBP.
Now, we don't get the movie until July.
I'm seriously considering boycotting Warner Brothers. |

Fans may deliberately boycott this movie if you make them wait such a long time, November was a long enough wait. It is unfair to all the fans who have waited patiently, and who buy all of the movie tickets and HP products. On top of that, not one but two trailers are out in theatres with November 21 2008 as the release date. WB is way out of line, all because they want the huge profit that The Dark Knight received in the summer. Money makes people go crazy. |
