Life/Death at the hands of HealthNet and Alamitos IPA

Elissa has cancer. She is in dire need of a surgery that will give her a fighting chance. However, her health-care providers, Alamitos IPA and HealthNet, considers the surgery to be unwarranted, and so they’ve refused to pay for the procedure.

Elissa has found a doctor who does not think the surgery is unwarranted, and he is willing to do the surgery for free. He’s also willing to take care of her post-surgery… for free. But --astonishingly -- Alamitos IPA and HealthNet STILL won’t allow the surgery because they won’t pay for the hospital bills or the attending doctors (i.e., Radiologist and Pathologist and Anesthesiologist, etc.)

It’s time to put an end to the insurance company’s victimization of us. They renege on their obligations in the 11th hour, and leave us to die, and we are made to fight when we are at our weakest and most vulnerable.

This petition will be presented to Alamitos IPA, HealthNet, and to the following in order to make this issue public:

Senator Barbara Boxer
Senator Ortiz
CA. First Lady Maria Shriver
Oprah
Ellen Degeneres
Network News
LA Times
The Orange County Register

Please sign, (and share!) this petition with as many people as you can. One day each of us may face the same battle-- unless we work together now to effect change to hold the insurance companies responsible for their end of the deal.

Help Elissa get her desperately needed surgery, and make this issue public – it affects all of us.
