The petition

To: NYS OTADA Commissioner Robert Doar, Governor George Pataki, the New York State Legislature, and Attorney General Elliot Spitzer

We, the undersigned, are writing to demand that the State stop forcing 2,200 clients of the New York City HIV/AIDS Services Administration living in contracted supportive housing who are receiving income other than public assistance (such as SSI, SSD, or Veterans Benefits) to pay all of their income except for $330.00 to rent.

It is out strong belief that this proposal is in violation of the contracts of housing providers, federal regulations and widely accepted standards, and most importantly, will cause extreme hardship on the lives of tenants of supportive housing.

We demand that each of your offices do everything in your power to reverse the State’s decision and policy on this issue.

Thank you.
