Howard D GuthreAs a decorated Dustoff Medic who is now 100% disabled as a result of Agent Orange, I support anything that will prevent my combat brothers from having to go through the gauntlet of beaucratic microbes that clog the VA system in search of that next promotion within their departmen at the expense of Veterans who plead for assistance. We know what our politicians did to us in Vietnam. I am committed to their exposure and removal from office everytime I vote. That means you Kerry, Murtha, Clinton, Reid, Pelosi, Boxer Spector, Nagel, Byrd, Leahey and Finestein
trudy causeyThe govt. needs to get off their ass and help the vets and send their own kids to fight in Iraq.
JOHN ROCKEFELLERAS A DISABLED VIETNAM VETERAN STILL FIGHTING TO GET THE COMPENSATION COMENSUARATE WITH MY DISABILITY AFTER 36 YEARS I ALSO SUPPORT ANY AND ALL EFORTS TO RECOGNIZE THAT THE VETERANS FROM THE 1ST GULF WAR AND THE CURRENT WAR IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN DESERVE TO BE COMPENSATED FOR THE INJURIES BOTH PHYSICAL AND MENTAL THAT OCCUR FOR ANY SOLDIER WHO SERVES IN COMBAT PAST OR PRESENT. I WOULD ALSO ASK THAT THOSE WHO READ THIS STATEMENT ENCOURAGE THEIR REPRESENTATIVES TO SEE THAT TITLE 38 OF TH US CODE BE AMENDED TO INCLUDE A DISIBILITY RATING FOR PAIN AND CHRONIC PAIN WHICH ARE CURRENTLY NOT COVERED BY TITLE 38. I SUFFER FROM CHRONIC PAIN AND DEGENERATIVE DISC DISEASE FROM INJURIES SUSTAINED WHILE ON ACTIVE DUTY. CHRONIC PAIN IS NOT CURRENTLY LISTED AS COMPENSATORY UNDER TITLE 38 OF THE US CODE. I AM CURRENTLY MEDICATED TO THE POINT THAT I CAN NO LONGER WORK AS ADJUDICATED BY MY LAST EMPLOYER AND YET THE GOVERNMENT ONLY CONSIDERS ME 40% DISABLED. THERE ARE MANY INEQUTIES IN THE COMPENSATIONS ALLOWEED BY TITLE 38 THAT AFFECT ME AND MANY OTHERS. I SUPPORT THE TROOPS DEFENDING OUR RIGHTS AND FEEL WE SHOULD ALL BE GRANTED THE SUPPORT WE WERE PROMISED WHEN WE AGREED TO SUPPORT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION INCLUDING LONG TERM DISABILITY.

Wanda StoryIt is a shame that the veterans must beg and send out petitions to get our government to do what is only right. You send us to war, so take care of those who went and those who are suffering from disease that is not contracted at home in the U.S.

ginniIn addition to this vital research, I strongly urge the use of 'vouchers' to allow the current back-log of VETERANS to utilize private health-CARE SERVICES,immediately. Physical therapy, mental Health CARE,whatever needs OUR PEOPLE have after their Service, must be YOUR IMMEDIATE PRIORITY.These issues do not go away without proper diagnosis & treatment, many times, delays cause more complications & needless suffering. Bureaucratic bs is no longer acceptable, the private sector must be engaged until the guvment is prepared to handle the Casualties resulting from the bush-Iraq war. ANY ONE who has SERVED ought to have the dignity & security of being able to go to ANY legitimate HealthCARE provider or facility, for any rason, until the VA is adequate . I am also VERY concerned that the VSO's, such as VFW & American Foreign Legion, are no longer reporting to congress, & their leadership have squelched Members' opposition to the admin or war. I will be calling congrss to investigate the clear change in these groups' 'mission'. Apparently, the VSO's are NOT working for the VETERANS any more, they work for Mr.bush&cheney, Soldiers, Vets, & Their Families will take CARE of each Other, but WE will hold Our elected employees to account..I enCourage YOU to show REAL Gratitude & Concern by supporting these important issues.
Linda Hunt, USAF retYou can't continue to sweep the Gulf War Veterans under the rug. Our issues and pain are real not in our heads. I have noticed a major decrease with finding the right words when I'm having a conversation or writing, I didn't realize that this is also one of the many symptoms.
Jim W BoydPlease do not drag your feet any longer on this issue. As a Vietnam vet suffering the effects of AO I understand what these vets are going thru.

AnonymousIt has been 16 years since this first Gulf War and so for 16 years these brave veterans have been suffering and dying. It is difficult to believe and an absolute, absolute shame that the medical research has not been organized and moving toward completion by now. This research and knowledge would not only serve Gulf War Vets and Veterans of the current wars, but obviously our entire society. It appears that, just as the effects of Agent Orange on Vietnam Vets, those in charge have been and will deny and stonewall until those suffering so gravely from Gulf War syndrome are deceased.

JamesI'd like to think my signing this would help, if in only the smallest way. However, in this current of political corruption that caters to corporate greed mongers (that buy laws at all government levels), I'm more than ever not highly encouraged. Decades ago I had a friend who enlisted in WW1. The man never complained even though he was wounded 5 times. Although he never asked for help from the government following discharge, his family, acting on his behalf, was refused health-care assistance from our government system after many requests following his combat wounds. He was disabled and pained by his voluntary enlistment till he died. Our brilliant government for years insisted this veteran did not have "life-threatening" injuries driectly connected to his military service. Our federal politicians are just as ignorant today as they were then with their self-serving, satanic attitudes toward enlisted, war-wounded vets. The entire thing remains a deeply-embedded travesty and will stay that way unless a much more drastic measure than simply another Boston Tea Party occurs; maybe it would take armed insurrection en masse, which I can't conceive ever happening. I was wounded in Vietnam in 1967 but have remained "non-service connected" relative to receipt of proper benefits for that botched debacle which I never volunteered for. Some of today's politicians deserve nothing more than a dangling from those fancy silk ties we buy for them!

Daniel P. GillIt's time for all Representatives, House and Senate, to step up to the plate and take care of those who've done their part to keep faith; can they expect less from you.
Gary D TischueA VietVet being treated after 39 years of sucking up and tucking in PTSD. Treatment is crucial to readjustment and functionality. Let's not shortchange our Vets, thank you!
Glen A. SmithLast week a Young Veteran of the Gulf War, Blew his Brains out as the VA couldn't get the severe PAIN in his head to stop... The VA is not treating these Veterans properly... most VA employees just think its all an act !!!
AnonymousI have lived and continue to live with this illness for 17 years now. My body is slowly wasting away. There are days when my pain meds do not take away the pain and I pray and ask God to take me instead. You have no ideal on how much pain physically as well as emotionally we live with. And you have no ideal how badly we are treated at the VA. Please I beg of you to find a cure for what is wrong with us, or else let me die in dignity while I still have the ability. Sincerely, Candy Lovett
Edward SlusserThe American soldier needs research money to determine Gulf War medical illness. This is a real condition. I pray that you will stand behind our servicemen and women by allocating funding for research into these illness'
Lisa A. WilkenDo the right thing. The Veteran community is watching.
Daniel W ShusterDisabled Gulf War Vet 100% total/permanent The VA system needs to be an advocate not an obstacle for veterans. you know what needs done, you know how to do it, you know it needs done NOW, DO IT !!!!
Chris OhlsenSimply, do the right thing for our veterans.
Cherriney KondorAs a Gold Star Mother raising awareness at a public holiday event, many citizens came through the Christmas in the Park talking about Guld War Health issues from 1991. These included sever birth defects among many others. It is vitally important that these courageous men and women get the treatment they need and diserve. Here are your weapons of mass distruction in action. Hit them head on or they will proliferate among the population for years to come.
