In 2006 we, as people of color have to still endure the disrespect of others because we are moving upwards. Don't look down, keep climbing. Use your brother and sisters as your support. Student of color '06

As an alumni of CPCS (1986) and later a staff person (1992-93), I am aware of the unique and important role that CPCS plays in educating the mature student with a dedication to the Commonwealth and to the community. Without the education I was able to receive, in my 40s, at CPCS, I would not have been able to contribute as effectively to my community or thrived as well as a professional. As a single mother, my daughter watched and helped me obtain my education and learned from the experience for her own future successes.
Please report on the crisis at CPCS.

What's up guys-is this not NEWS ?
UMB is a diverse institution giving students a break that they wouldn't have in education. It would be a crying shame if this institution were to fail.
Save our education by publicizing the crisis faced with students at the College of Public and Community Service, Umass Bosto
A public institution getting my tax dollars, should get equal, if not more, coverage to private universities. This avoidance on the part of the Globe is a disgrace and very strange. Start doing what you are supposed to do and report the news! Christine Giraud

Why wouldn't the media cover a threat to public service except that fact that the only public service they are a watchdog over is saying, "Sieg Heil to the Fuhrer's face>'
I am a supporter of CPCS and feel this story needs to be heard. One of my best friends is a graduate of CPCS (2004) and I have watched her do wonders in her community as a result of the training that she has received from the school. I am an undergrad working on my education degree and I was appauled while reading the article, I hope something is done...soon!

I retired from the U Mass faculty last year after 26 years at the College of Public and Community Service. I am appalled and mystified by the failure of the Globe to cover the destruction of CPCS which is clearly in progress. Please demonstrate some integrity and let your readers know what is happening at a public college which has been committed to providing access to non-traditional students.

Responsibility to students is a major aspect of being a trusted institution. Such behavior on the part of UMASS Boston is unacceptable.

I have known and worked with many of your students, staff and alumni; there are the most dedicated community organizers and workers that I have ever known. Many of them came from very deprived backgrounds and were able to thrive and become leaders at CPSC. They deserve to be adequately covered by the Globe.

I am a Professor of Social Psychology at Harvard Medical School. I know many of the dedicated faculty at CPCS-UMass/Boston, am familiar with its long history of commitment to providing a college education to low-iuncome and disadvantaged communities in the Boston area. It is being systematically destroyed by an administration that is intent on undermining its traditional, valuable educational mission. The Boston Globe is failing its mission of reporting what is happening to the community that will be most affected by the loss of CPCS.

I hadn't heard anything about this, as I have no connection to U-Mass Boston nor its students. The LEXIS-NEXIS stats pretty much some it up concisely, the Boston Globe does not report on UMB, which is odd as that is the one educational institution in town that State tax-payers' dollars are going into. Who cares what happens at BU (and I say that as a BU alum), they have a large enough PR dept to get their message out. The State's support for its public educational system is notoriously pathetic (relative to someplace like Wisconsin, for instance) and now it's been proven that the Boston Globe is probably part of the reason as to why.
